King Tendulkar Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Same all over west. Why someone of work " stress or depression" !! Ridculous feeble excuse used so commonly in work place, as impossible for a doctor to accuratley diaognise and dissprove. I mean how does a doctor say someone does not have stress and is faking it, impsoosible to diagniose either way with certainty Not talking Trott here. But anyone with one hour research could fake stress and get signed off by a doctor
Sachinism Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Loving the resident-experts here. Not a ****ing clue among the bunch of you. Seriously if you don't know much about mental illness maybe you should stop bringing attention to your ignorance
vvvslaxman Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 http://psychcentral.com/cgi-bin/depression-quiz.cgi If you take this quiz 90% under the sun will have varied amount of depression. I am one of the 10% :) I belong to the following category lol [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2_Yi-1Ryf4]peter gibbons interview - YouTube[/ame]
asterix Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 [Conspiracy] Andy Flower is more worried about his teams prospects in this Ashes. He was looking a way out to dump struggling Trott. Trott might've, innocently mentioned about a 'mental bloack' against short pitch deliveries... Flower latched on it and convinced him to take a break citing 'mental stress'... It hasn't hit Trott yet... Soon he'll realise that he played in Andy's hands and fvked his career... [/Conspiracy] I'm pretty sure Trott will come out of it.. Pretty soon...
ganeshran Posted November 26, 2013 Author Posted November 26, 2013 ^^ Yup, I am sure Trott's doctor diagnosed him with that internet quiz. @vvvs what is the point you are trying to make, because it doesn't seem to be clear 1) Is Trott faking mental illness to avoid facing Johnson 2) Or Is Depression a made up disorder that mentally weak people resort to to when pressure becomes too high

You guys portray as he is having chronic depression. He never said "i am mentally ill". He just said "I don't feel like giving 100%. I need a break from the game..until i recover ". NEver said he is depressed. Just like you think some of us don't understand his issues, i also think you don't understand his issues either. Fear of failure is also a reason for stress, not being able to handle work load is also a form of stress.. there are so many disorders social anxiety disorder one NFL player quit because of that. Because he couldn't gel with his teammates so he quit. Every single inability can be diagnosed as stress and label it. So why do you think fear of failure could not be a source for his stress. How can you even rule that out? Fear of failure itself is a sign of stress/depression. Unless you guys give me the exact root cause it is open to interpretation. Trescho clearly said it was home sickness, he was missing his new born baby etc etc. So there is a genuine underlying reason behind it. I agree he is not faking it. It is a stress illness that could have gotten worse after scathing criticism. You don't think that is possible?

It has been already raised by Aussie fans. Even though All the aussies try to be politically correct in press i am sure they would talk in a different tone off the record. Male sports is always highly testosterone driven arena where leaving the team in lurch will always be viewed as weak. That is how we ourselves have called several players. From Afridi to Ganguly.

It's not something that popped up at the First test. His own form hasn't been very well off late Secondly a stress related medical condition is not the same as feeling stressed out at work. The latter goes away after a relaxing weekend, the former doesn't. True, We don't know enough about the inner workings of the brain to diagnose exact disorders and cure them immediately, but we do know enough to determine that mental disorders have a biological basis, and are not some imaginary cop-out to escape pressure. We knew very little about cancer in the last century, or the flu a couple of centuries before that. Before the research lead to breakthroughs, diagnosis of cancer was arbitrary and no one exactly knew what cured it. By the same token future generations will have much better understanding of mental illnesses. This paragraph is beyond me. What root cause are you looking for? You say that it is a stress illness then allude to the lack of a "genuine" underlying reason, whatever that may be. The step that he has taken is much bigger than simply getting dropped for the rest of the tour. It could very well mean the end of an international career and a significant chunk of his income.
ganeshran Posted November 26, 2013 Author Posted November 26, 2013 That is how we ourselves have called several players. From Afridi to Ganguly. Did either of them admit to having a mental illness? If not, I don't see how that has a bearing on Trott's current situation. Also, I don't know which forums you are reading, but the one I where I saw the discussions, aussie fans were far more informed and classy than the resident ICF junta

Why would they admit? Not forums. Response from some Aussie ans under articles. Secondly in all kind o mental illnesses even benign stress or depression can be triggered by certain events. It most certainly is the case with Trott. It could be external criticism or criticism within the dressing room. Alistair cook has declared it as war. That is the only thing we know. We certainly don't know what all went there. We may never be privy to such dressing room information. So entire team management has taken a collective decision.
EnterTheVoid Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Some truly retarded comments/analogies from the usual suspects. He was sick and needed some time off. What is so criminal about that?
Detonator Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013  Let's say like this: Trott is just facing some health issues. Hope he comes back. No need to turn into a psychiatrist and diagonise Trott's problem in a freakkin forum
