No. Durban was slowed down since Tahir started playing for them after 2010. This was the fastest pitch, even quicker and bouncier than Gabba we saw in first Ashes test. Doubt even Perth will better this kind of bounce.

He is too cocky for his own good. He didn't even have a sighter of how much the ball was going to bounce. Morkel was cranking up over 140 k. It was foolish. majority of the batsman in the world would have failed to pull that ball with any authority. It climbed from almost a good length.

rohit,kohli,dhoni,jadeja, and even ashwing have shown that they can handle pace and bounce, and rohit managed steyn quite well, as he was not chasing the lenghts of the ball. This is the only way to tackle steyn. And on these conditions, onus is on bowlers, to get teams out, I mean, come on, at least, in these conditions, bowlers must take wickets, but they were bowling shot of length deliveries, instead of fullish length, except shami. In these conditions, 360 is too much, infact, 250 is sufficient on such conditions, if bowling is correct. The real nemesis of Indian cricket team is fast bowling, and since 2011, we are losing the abroad tours because we don't have a champion bowler, who will rattle the opponents and take 20 wickets in test. Also, in ODI, bowlers are important, yesterday's game has shown this. I hope that they come out quickly with all the adjustments and win the next game.

In these conditions, bowlers will always stay in hunt, and his innings was good. It is not sub continent track to chase 360 and make double centuries, collectively, scores of 30,50, 60 will do, backed up solid bowling. The bowling was pathetic by the indian team, and they never learn.

No. He was not much quicker than Mohit, BK, VK in last few series he played. He also averages around 83 mph. Shami averaging around 86-87 mph even in India that is where he needs to be on average pace to be called to have some pace. Steyn, Morkel, and Parnell all three were averaging 88 mph yesterday, more than Shami. Only Yadav can match their pace. Lack of pace with Ishant has been really disappointing. Even if you cannot swing the ball or hit the seam every time at least try to bowl quick to negate lack of swing. You cannot just come and trundle straight balls at 135K without swing or seam.

Yep the top order didn't seem hapless like they've felt in most of the previous tours. Dhawan was actually looking a lot assured, just got a snorter of delivery which surprised him. We were never gonna chase this on this pitch. We need a much better bowling performance and Rahane-Rayudu to replace Yuvi-Raina for next ODI if we're still looking to win the series.

We lost at home to WI (The only 2nd seriesWI won away from home last decade) Aus and Pak at home under Ganguly.Knocked at first round in CT 2004 and lost 5-1 in CB in 2003-04 and didnt win any match vs Aus in 99-00.Whitewashed in NZL too. And under Dravid(just before Dhoni took over) lost 4-0 in SA , Knocked out of Group stage at home , 2007 world cup tragedy , Lost 4-1 in WI as well. And how many CT and Asia cups we won under Ganguly/Dravid compared with Dhoni? In ODIS we have been million times better under Dhoni than any anyone else in our history.Knee jerking after one One ODI/series loss doesnt change that fact. What ability overseas? We just won the CT in England steam rolling every opposition. they have plenty of leeway atleast till 2015 world cup after their achievements.

To be honest, it is meaningless, because, test series is after this. I am happy that one day is kept before test. RSA is hyping ODI now, because there record is not great. Besides, it is only 1 match, so I will not make much out of this, and not to forget, the choking ability of theirs.

I think raina was playing good, he handled morkel decently, and i can see some adjustment in his technique. On yuvi, we cannot discard him, he is our match winner actually.

Raina batted well compared to his previous reaction to fast and bouncy tracks or short balls, Dhawan, Virat, Rohit, even Dhoni batted ok, Ashwin looked very very good, Jadeja looked ok, Yuvi was bad and Bhuvi, Mohit were very bad, also bowling combo sucked.
