The SA batsmen played spin very well. Great if Ashwin took a wicket but at no point did they struggle against spin. These guys have been facing Ajmal and co for the better part of three months at home and away. SA had nothing to fear from Ashwin or for that matter any spinner India could throw at them!!

I wonder how some of experienced posters are saying he shld be there because our tail can't bat. His job to bowl and take wickets which he seemed to have forgotten.

If you are playing four pacers, all of them need to take wickets. Ashwin does not seems to have that on these pitches. SA can play a defensive spinner because they have 4th seamer in Kallis.

India should look for some other spinner who can actually turn the ball. Not expecting them to roll over opposition in such conditions, but taking 1-2 wickets after giving 100 runs would be handy. Otherwise there isn't much difference between him and a part timer.

It is more about deception and guile. Kumble always used his variation of spin and pace to deceive batsmen with his accuracy.

This project drop ashwin thread. Useless bowler to be honest. CSK quota player. Doesnt bowl well T20I and now in ODIs and well tests he bowls too many variations and a sloppy fielder.
