Great Bowling spells by Indians in SA

Sreesanth has very high percentage of top order wickets from opposition compared to other contemporary Indian bowlers. Though he is not exactly Dale Steyn next coming he had a genuine wicket deliveries in his armoury. That is precisely what our bowlers have to develop. Shami has to find way to take wickets when the reverse is not happening.

In the Durban test, he maintained a modicum of discipline and reaped rewards. He was very accurate the entire morning..
He was very good when he started on his first tour to SA but success got to his head.

That was not a bouncer but just took off from short of length. More to do with pitch than the bowler.
U got to hit the seam ,it increases the chances.U cannot just take bowlers skill out of equation. How many wickets like that we got in the test.

partially correct' date='Sreesanth in his first 10-15 tests before injury always ran in even if it was last session[/quote'] I would say first 11 tests in which he had 44 wickets and after that, success got to this head and he lost his way. He stopped working hard on fitness, got injured consistently.

He was such a talent when he first came. Could be a world class bowler. Beautiful action, release, good pace, could hit 140-145K, but his head was in knees. lack of hard work on fitness and bowing in the nets lead to loss of his bowling action a bit.

That is why I said it was more to do with pitch. Lot of bowlers hit the team but seam lone does not make you bowl such delivery. It is always got to do with pitch.

Check the pace 130..134.. thereabouts You need that short of drivable length on these pitches.. None of our bowlers bowled that in any of the matches
The bunch we have are random bowlers. Shami is the only one who looks like pitching the ball up. But he is not maintaining the channel though. Having Zak in the side will definitely help these guys get an idea about how to set up batsmen.

These pitches were different than that apart from first match at Wanderers. That was a green top. Last two match pitches did not have much help for pacers and did not have that kind of grass. Centurian had no grass at all. and you are comparing ODI performance to test match. Both formats have different kind of balls used. Sreesanth bowled on a green top in first two tests in 2006 and did well. Last test was on a flattish track and he did not do that well.

Agree. But I haven't seen any bowler bowl any ball on the same place twice or bowling to a field.

U need to have movement and pace to pitch the ball up.There are some guys who get extra zip off the pitch.ISHANT has to bowl back of length as he when he pitches it up he cannot get movement and got driven for 4 even at 145ks.Shami,yadav both have that skill u will see similar spells like sere from them.

No i said it increases chances.Sreesanth has as good as seam position as any in history of cricket. If it hits a crack it will jump off .

Its more do with ishant idiotic decision to change his style and copy zak. With his 2007-2009 Action. He got more zip form the zip as his wrist was behind the ball and even if it fell he got insigne but now everything is lost.

You forgot how Shami clean bowled Finch, Watson etc. hitting consistently right areas in ODIs against Aus on flat Indian pitches. Yadav is more about pace then consistency. He takes wickets in test matches.

One thing we forget the contribution of anil kumble in our away victories. He would knock the lower order like in perth, adelaide, joberg, trentbridge, .If we had kumble on away tours in eng 2011 in 2nd test i doubt broad bresnan would have got away also in aus tour ponting hussey got away at mcg. So ash win has to step up.
