Once swing comes into equation Anderson will be lethal, and these Steve Smiths and David Warners and not to forget front foot plonker Watson will be waiting to become his bunnies. England have batsmen who are better players of swing bowling and other than Harris there is no real swing bowler in Aussie line up.Who knows how long he will last. This was a case of more England losing the Ashes than Aussies winning it.
Problem is England was expected win the series even in Australia as well. They not only lost, they got decimated. They were never given a sniff on 3 reasonably flat wickets. Besides last time But for Broad not walking Australia should have won that Test. Let me put this way. This Australian side will compete much better in England than how England competed in Australia.

1. Steve Smith scored a ton in the Oval and scored 90's in India. 2. Warner scored a ton in Hobart, a very green Hobart which is a lot more swing than anywhere in the world that I remembered seeing 3. Siddle, Pattinson, Johnson, Starc, Watson....basically every Aussie quick can swing it but the Kookaburra doesn't swing for long. None of them swing as great as Anderson and Philander though. 4. Australia haven't lost in SA since 1969/70 including a weaker team in 2011 5. England changed their pitches to suit drier spinning decks if you follow County. 6. Anderson since Trent Bridge has been average, note that Trent Bridge was the first test. England were crushed by a rampant Australian team that can easily get better from this. This is a step forward with a good nucleus. They have great batsmen coming up like Hughes, Silk, Maddinson and Head for example and excellent bowlers and great keepers coming up as well. They have a decent future and so do England as they have great batsmen coming up...bowlers is a tad iffy though.

Brezy can slog as well :3.. Im glad that we limited the English tail greatly this summer. Bresnan' date=' Swanny, and Broad are capable of dealing some great lower order runs.[/quote'] Yeah they haven't done much at all which shows the resolve and great line and length bowling from Australia. We have the bowling attack that can do damage in South Africa again as a unit. They are still a great side, England but they have been outplayed, it happens. It hurts worse for them because it is Australia.

I think Indian team is getting too much flak for that 0-8, Aussies are horrible this year alone they are 0-7 and lucky not be 0-8 away from home. What about England other than winning two over series over ageing teams in last 10 years what the hell have they done overseas. The only team which has done exceptionally well away from home is SA.

Yeah but difference was like India were World Number 1, not England or Australia and nor did those teams have Tendulkar, Sehwag, Laxman, Dravid and Gambhir in their batting lineup.

Bairstow is a piss poor keeper compared to Buttler and Davies.
Isnt he the backup keeper? Prior was in the team due to his batting, and now that he hasnt delivered, its time to let him go. But who will replace Prior

Point is most teams are doing well at home and poorly away. Australia were thrashed 4-0 in India and their batsmen didnt have a clue how to play spin and they lost Ashes series 3-0 just a while ago in England. England couldnt manage to win a single test against New Zealand in NZ and lost 3-0 to Pakistan in UAE. Actually India won Champions Trophy in England and were clearly the best side in the tournament where SA, Eng, Aus also played.

Yeah when Bairstow is your backup keeper....you have issues. Buttler is the most likely to slot in.

Cook is not Bradman, England will their swing type bowlers will always struggle in Australia . I think it is wrong to assume that if Broad had walked everything else would have played exactly the same, who know England would wrapped them lot earlier. Aussies competed in couple of tests earlier this year but I don't think England were in any danger of losing that series.

Actually if Haddin and Patto scored the last 17 runs at the first test it would have been 1-0 and who knows from there....

what is your point. If you think Steve Smith and David Warner all of sudden are great batsmen I am sorry I don't agree at all. Aussies always had great sides except in 1980s and this side is not great side but just had great result.

Didnt Australia lose 1-3 at home to England last Ashes with Ponting, Hussey Clarke in the team , Indians at least lost 4-0 away from home.

very true but it does not work out like that. if England had got haddin's wicket on first morning of first test with score 138/6 who knows how this series would have turned out. Same thing if Siddle had not gotten tendulkar's wicket in first test in melbourne 2011 with Indian 210/2 result of that series would have been lot different.

Yeah which is why people always bring up that series against Pakistan and India were considered to be a shoo in for No.1 since Australia was considered to be weak and England lost in UAE against Pakistan. The team had a better lineup and couldn't make any runs there and considering how good they were, it was nothing to do with bounce because all of those 4 players average well in Australia. Australia was piss weak in the 10/11 Ashes and were easily outclassed by a strong England, especially if you look at form and the squads. Yeah and India lost 3-1 against England as well in a 4 match series at home after leading the first test.

Problem is this Australian side is not that good side. Worse than the one ENgland faced last time. This one is made up of T20, ODI specialists. No real spin threat. Just 3 seamers. England came in as favorites so much so some even claimed 5-0 whitewash. This Australian side will give England a run for their money if they roll out flat surfaces in ENgland. If there is no conditions for swing they could even lose a test or two.

If Aussies travel to England now they will lose the series 3-0, it is not like Aussies have suddenly become strong. Johnson if someone gives him a hammering will revert back to his old self in no time as Ben Stokes proved it and rest of them are as fragile as they come. Aussies are like many other sides which are are decent at home and poor away from home.
Would agree with that,

Last time England were here Marcus North, Allrounder Steve Smith, Doug Bollinger, Xavier Doherty and Michael Beer. You can't get worse than that.
