Vijay has proved everyone wrong in this test JUST by grinding and playing attritional cricket' date=' which is what is needed in South African conditions. He looked a LOT better than Dhawan, [b']who threw his wicket away both times.
Brainless in the first innings but you gotta give bowler the credit in the second. Was set up beautifully.

I did not see the first two sessions on the first day but today the way he batted, it was priceless. I didn't expect such quality batting from him. Hope he gets a big one in the next test. He deserved one today.

I was hard on Rogers for the way he played in the first 2 tests, but boy, he played a good supporting act with Warner in the 2nd innings of the WACA test :)/

and for the record, i have quite a number of fellow aussie friends here in L.A. who talk cricket with me :). I can safely say that they gave India a huge amount credit in the Champions Trophy, and now. They were in awe of how Pujara batted in the 2nd innings. He truly had the poise of a veteran. It's mostly the Cricinfo horde who are very unpleasant.

I don't get it. :((
"Come again" - G_B_ can do that for you :--D
He might have a point' date=' but why does it have to be the conditions? If India had failed miserably, the talk would have been that India are flat track bullies. Give some credit for once. You and Steyn were made to look ineffective by Kohli and Pujara, because they are world class batsmen and brilliantly negotiated every delivery and didnt fish outside off stump.[/quote'] Point? SA had a first morning pitch to bowl. 2nd day morning session with overcast skies. When SA came to bat, it was clear skies. That's 2/2 days with conditions in favor for SA. Mind you, India gifted many wickets to SA. SA would be in a worse position had India not gifted those wickets and held on to their chances. The only thing which favored India was Morne Morkel injury.

Had Kohli not run out Pujara, SA would have been staring at a worser deficit. If you ask me, India have outplayed SA so far in this test match.

I agree with vernon. He also forget to mentiom The medium pace trundler opening the bowling. that must have made our batsman feel like they were playing a ranji trophy match.

He is a moron , India lost last 5 wicket for 20 odd runs when under clouds this moron itself took 3 wickets. Then they were 130 odd for one how hell have conditions favored india.

Awwww sorry Vern, but we're not letting you stomp us all out for under 50 runs. Had to do a bit more work for that 100th wicket? Whoops. Give india credit where its due, like we gave you when you scored your 50. Conditions favoured india? In south africa with pace and bounce and swing? j-jonah-jameson-laughing-o_zps5589c93c.gif

the problem is Saffers don't have a reverse swing bowler...
True In first innings shami was really bowling well even got faf out but he was dropped Zack too is master with old ball ..so it will be different for us as we showed in first inning wickets came even in last session :winky:

In other words , Philander is saying that he and the other South African bowling greats and 'to be greats ' , can succeed only if conditions are unusually in their favour. Even reasonably helpful conditions, duel paced pitch and home matches are not sufficient for them to be effective against India. :winky:
