According to the commentators, the weather was the spoilsport for this pitch. The pitch curator expected it to rain the last 2 days. So he cut the grass 2 days back and kept it covered so when it rained for 2 days, the pitch would get juicier. But since it was very sunny, pitch went dry instead.

^ MSD usually loses the toss. First time (albeit 2 Tests only) he has 100% toss win record for a Test series! So he got to bat when the sun was shining. I think Day 4/Day 5 - rain predicted.

Like i said in another thread, Saffers have been exposed. They are a quality test team, the best out of all tbh as they have won home and away but now that they've been outplayed at home, here come the excuses. If its a fast, bouncy pitch with movement and India bats well: "Conditions favoured india, they batted when the sun was out, we batted when overcast" (lol hello these are home conditions, surely not the first time you've batted overcase is it South africa?) If its slightly flatter and good to bat on: "Flat pitch, real test will come when India play on fast, bouncy tracks.." Actually Morkel got good bounce as did steyn. And there was reverse swing which ABDV or Duminy couldnt play in 1st innings of test 1. India have batted well, so give them credit!

It has happened before. Somewhat ironically, SA have been a better touring side than while playing at home against top sides. India drew their last series in SA in 2010, Aus drew in 2011 and won in 2009, England drew in 2009-10.
