I don't think the selection committee can take all the blame for this. They provided the team management with plenty of options. Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar sat on bench watching hapless Ishant and Zaheer bowl friendly medium pace. I still feel if we had picked Bhuvaneshwar, it could easily have been a very different result.

If he don't take those flukey ones, we might ve seen umesh playing. :mad: I blame the selection comittee for even picking him in the squad based on one off ranji performance. Zaheer is selected purely based on his record and legacy. We would ve won the series if he had been half as good as in his prime. Hope we will go with Umesh/Bhuvi/Shami in England. If Dhawan didn't perfrom in NZ and if Rohit performs well, we can open with Rohit in England (based on his CT performance) and play both Ashwin and Jadeja. Having said that, Bhuvi has a grand total of 9 wickets in 11 matches. His record looks bad and he has to take wickets if given chance.

Yes because it was Ishant who picked himself over Yadav and dhoni had nothing to do with it We would still have lost with Yadav and BK in the side instead of Ishant and Zaheer, but at least we would have been glad we are giving youngsters a chance and it is no shame to fail with a young team.

That still doesn't top the comment he made: "If we took the new ball, it would not swing. Who will bowl 25 overs then to get reverse swing?" That means you accept that the cr@p fast bowlers you picked can't even bowl well with the new ball. Then why did you pick them in the first place, Mr. Dhoni?
