Although I think Alexander is being somewhat over-optmistic, I foresee an Indian loss myself, though I am an Indian and support our team. The reason is that our bowling is still very poor: Ashwin is not a force overseas, and Shami is too raw. Zak's best days are behind him and we all know what Ishant is like. Jadeja seems to be a good find but he is mostly a bowler who can slog a bit as of now. As for our batting, there are positives to be taken out of the tour - but our best batting performance of the series came against a Morkel-less attack. I don't rate Broad and Anderson anywhere near Steyn and Philander, despite what English fans claim, and hence it should be easier to handle this attack, esp in the absence of Swann. But, I still feel that a couple of our batsmen (you know who they are) are not technically tight enough to handle the moving ball.

All of them are very adept at swinging the ball and reversing it as well. On a helpful track (aka J'burg) they will run circles round ur batsmen especially in the current scenario. Your batsmen look shell shocked to say the least, and its the likes of Ryan Harris and Siddle who've been among the wickets as well, not just Johnson. So its not just pace as your excuse suggests!! Also dont get excited when u see SA batsmen make runs against Indian bowlers. Pommies dont have anyone close to the standards of Amla, Smith, Kallis, AB, Faff....The only decent batsman u guys have at the moment is a Saffer by the name of Kevin!! Reminder: Did Pommies loose to SA at home: YES (0-2) How many runs did SA make against Pommies at the Oval: 637 So before you thump ur man tits over how SA beat India remember the hammering they gave u at home. Fact 2: India has a far more potent batting line up than England. They faced Steyn, Philander and Morkel at home, the worlds best pace attack by FAR!! If the english batsmen faced such a fearsome attack right now, they would have hung themselves, let alone retire!! The dibbly dobblies and swing ur trundlers bowl is nothing compared to the pace and bounce of the Saffers. Vijay, Dhawan, Kohli, Pujara and Rahane will have no issues against the likes of whatever you call a bowling attack on that day. (Never sure about who in england had a mental breakdown, whose retiring, whose dropped etc...etc...) They will be coming to play after the tour of New Zealand which will be a more competent team than England. Remember Englands last tour of NZ, failed to win a single test and lost the tour game. If ur bowlers are attacked then they are just shell shocked, no replies. The fact that one of Australia's weakest batting line ups and their tail enders are scoring freely against them shows how incompetent pommies are. Fact 3: We kicked out the oldies in the team. The easy wickets your bowlers enjoyed the last time round dont play for India anymore. The likes of Sehwag and Gambir are struggling in the domestic circuit, shows that you had it very easy against mostly mediocre batsmen apart from Dravid. I think England will win, but i doubt it will be a 4-0 like last time. That Indian team had run its course after the 2011 World Cup. This group is a bit more hungry with the likes of Kohli, Pujara, Rahane, and Shami. If South Africa, the #1 team in the world won 1-0, the Pommies will find it a tad tougher than they think. How the Indians play swing will matter a lot on the results. A headache for India is definitely Dhoni at the helm. The bloke is a gigantic excuse maker and extremely defensive..

More like he's been lucky for two years -2010-2011.All other years Cook fails to average 50, despite playing a tonne of tests at home against teams such as Sri Lanka, India, West Indies- all three that are utterly incompetent in bowling in English conditions. Tellingly, Cook has been able to overachieve with his limited talents because he's played so much cricket in such a short time and his weakness as a test quality opener is not immediately obvious: unlike most test openers who have a problem leaving balls close to the offstump or struggle on the backfoot, Cook's weakness is the driving length ball angled across him. This is a GLARING weakness he has and he will end up averaging under 45 due to this. This is almost Brian lara circa 1996 to 2002 all over again, where the '4th stump line on good length' would always result in Lara nicking to the keeper/1st slip. McGrath,Gough, Pollock, Donald, Akram all brutally exploited this glaring weakness. Cook is nowhere as talented or as strong willed as Lara was to compensate for a glaring weakness. Atleast Lara could bash the hell out of any spinner and get his eye and confidence in before the fast bowlers returned for a 2nd tilt. Don't kid yourselves- Cook is more in Atherton's class than Boycott's.

Your series tend to be more result oriented because England, like New Zealand has the habit of preparing undercooked pitches. Also, India drew with SA a test series 1-1 in SA three years ago, and guess what happened a few months later? SA are a better team away from home so I won't read too much into India's performance there.

South Africa are not a better team away from home. Also, the biggest reason there was a gulf of difference between India-South Africa 3 years ago and India England 3 years ago was due to the fact that in South Africa we had Zaheer Khan, in England we lost Zaheer Khan in the first session of the first test!

Zaheer Khan was over the hill then anyway. And SA in recent years have drew home series with England, Aus and India, and beat two of those teams twice away. They struggle at home more and even lost a test at home to Sri Lanka a year ago.
