FischerTal Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 What would Advani have done ? This is the point where your reading of the situation seems to go for a toss. some people actually believe togadia supports modi. :cantstop:
Sachin=GOD Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 What would Advani have done ? This is the point where your reading of the situation seems to go for a toss. I am not saying that Advani (or any other leader) would have changed everything for the better in BJP but IMO things would not have been so bad. The prospect of Modi as the PM has given a new life to the hardcore elements in BJP (there still is a large number of those) and RSS/VHP - they are making threatening statements/hate speeches one after the other but there is no attempt to stop them. Anyone questioning/criticizing Modi sees his/her campaign being sabotaged by Modi fans (for ex - in Kanpur a lot of Modi fans are at work to make things difficult for Dr. Joshi) - I am sure that all this would not have happened under a different leader. And I do believe that all this development talk by Modi is largely a mask to get votes. The true colors will come out if he becomes PM.

I still think it is prejudice against Modi and you may have your reasons ie Gujarat riots. But I have seen Advani closely in last elections and have seen Modi campaign this year. I see no difference. It was similar kind of iron man image projected who would build a grand temple. There was more polarisation last election by BJP. Media is getting bigger by the day. So noise would be more this election. Quite frankly, considering the criticisms you keep bringing up, you should back Jaitley or Parrikar. Not Advani. By backing him, your logic gets nullified. He is poster boy of hindutva if ever there was one. He probably doesn't excite his cadres anymore.
Khalpat Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 No comments on JP allying with BJP? Comeon they will never do that. The underwears have no problem with thousand dying due to mismanagment and bad governance but how can they say a single word in favour of an elected CM from last 12 years.
ravishingravi Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 some people actually believe togadia supports modi. :cantstop: No they don't believe. They lie. And keep repeating it.
ravishingravi Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Today is day when future of this country gets decided.

He is poster boy of hindutva if ever there was one. He probably doesn't excite his cadres anymore. It is not. I think he is not the right person to lead India. Nopes - it cannot even be compared with this campaign. I was too young to see/know what exactly was the level of excitement/frenzy in the hardcore elements in the BJP/RSS during the time of the Ram Mandir movement but from the time I have started following politics, I have not seen the hardcore BJP/RSS workers in this kind of frenzy - they are just waiting to take revenge on their opponents. Statements made by Amit Shah, Giriraj Singh, Togadia etc have only encouraged them. The kind of intolerance that has been shown by Modi supporters towards anyone (be it within or outside the party) who has questioned/criticized Modi is just shocking - but you cannot see it now. He was the poster of of Hindutva - I think you know it as well as i do that that is no longer the case.

asterix Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 ^ you were too young... That answers your ignorance about what Advani was in the run up to the BM destruction... That also answers the ignorance you display about the role of right wing Hindu organisations during Advani era...
ganeshran Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 Modi of today is the Advani of 1995. Modi has his Gujarat massacre while Advani has his Rath Yatra and Babri Masjid. It was only after playing second fiddle to Vajpayee that Advani's image toned down and is clearly not right wing enough for BJP supporters today.

That also answers the ignorance you display about the role of right wing Hindu organisations during Advani era... I never said that he was not the poster boy of Hindutva earlier. But he is no longer that leader - you also know that. But as Ganeshran said, now Modi is even more hardcore and thus the right choice for you and many others.
ganeshran Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 leading BJP to 2 election losses didn't help his cause 1 election loss. Like I said, he's not right wing enough for BJP supporters now.
