Sachin=GOD Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Elections 2014: Election Commission to introduce VVPAT across India Kolkata: The Election Commission (EC) will introduce Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) countrywide on experimental basis to ensure a fair Lok Sabha poll. The VVPAT is a paper slip which will come out of the electronic Voting Machine (EVM) once a voter casts his vote, showing which symbol and candidate the vote has been cast for. The slip will be automatically dropped in a sealed box attached to the EVM for use by the EC, Chief Electoral Officer in West Bengal Sunil Gupta today said. The VVPAT system has already been demonstrated to the representatives of all recognised national and state political parties. The Commission has placed an order for about 20,000 VVPAT machines and those will be deployed in states selectively depending on their availability. The VVPAT has been developed jointly by the Bharat Electronics limited, Bangalore and Electronics Corporation of India Limited. After several rounds of field trial and necessary modification, the Technical Expert Committee in its meeting on February 19, 2013 finally approved the design of VVPAT system. Somasekhara Reddy also followed him. Sriramulu was a minister in the BS Yeddyurappa government and split to form the BSR Congress following the arrest of his political mentor and mining baron G Janardhan Reddy. Yeddyurappa too, split from the BJP to form the KJP following his arrest by the Lokayukta police. With this, all the Reddy brothers including G Janardhan Reddy, are back with the BJP. Karunakar Reddy the third brother, never left BJP. Congress MLA and son of Union minister Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyank Kharge said “People have seen this game before. Yeddyurappa is a pale shadow of himself. The new arrangement will cause further trouble within the BJP. It is a survival issue for survival them.†BJP fighting corruption :two_thumbs_up:

diga Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 This is some spin :) Sushma Swaraj on Thursday went public with her disapproval of moves to get B Sreeramulu and Venod Sharma into the NDA tent, betraying the unease in a section of the BJP over the party’s outreach to disparate ideologies and leaders in order to bulk up in numbers. Swaraj tweeted her opposition to the planned merger of Sreeramulu’s BSR Congress with the BJP in Karnataka, and to Haryana’s rebel Congress MLA Venod Sharma’s attempt to enter the NDA through the Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) of Kuldeep Bishnoi. “I am opposed to the BSR alliance or merger with BJP in Karnataka. I have conveyed to Shri Raj Nath Singhji in writing that BJP must not permit this,†the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha tweeted. On the proposed entry of Sharma into the HJC, Swaraj tweeted, “I am strongly opposed to this. I have conveyed my views to Shri Kuldeep Bishnoi.†The HJC, which was expected to field Sharma from Karnal, is a BJP ally. Sreeramulu, a close associate of jailed mining baron Janardhana Reddy, had on Wednesday announced plans to merge his BSR Congress with the BJP. The BJP had not officially confirmed the merger, but Sreeramulu was learnt to have got the green signal from the party. Sharma is considered to be a close associate of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. While Swaraj proactively disowned the move to embrace Sreeramulu and Sharma, the rest of the BJP leadership maintained a curious silence on Thursday. Spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi offered “no comments†during a press conference at the party headquarters. The tweet on Sharma led to the cancellation of the Haryana leader’s induction into the HJC on Thursday. BJP sources said Sharma’s move to enter the HJC had the blessings of some top BJP leaders, who advised him to take this route into the NDA. According to these sources, Swaraj’s tweets on Thursday were provoked by the emergent impression that she had blessed both the Haryana and Karnataka moves. Swaraj was learnt to have objected to Sreeramulu’s return when it was first proposed after former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa came back to the BJP in January. Senior Karnataka BJP leaders including Yeddyurappa met Rajnath Singh in early February to ask him to let Sreeramulu’s BSR Congress into the BJP. But Rajnath, who knew of Swaraj’s objections, gave them no assurance. Party sources indicated that Narendra Modi, who addressed a rally with Yeddyurappa last month, was keen to get Sreeramulu back to bolster prospects in Karnataka. Yeddyurappa, the sources said, had also lobbied with Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley to get Swaraj to soften her line on Sreeramulu. Swaraj did not say on Twitter why she was opposed to the BSR Congress’s merger with the BJP. But it is reliably learnt that she has been upset with what she feels is an unfair projection of her as a patron of the Bellary brothers, with whom Sreeramulu has been close. Swaraj was learnt to have insisted that Rajnath should make her dissent clear while announcing the merger. Swaraj’s objection comes even as the Karnataka BJP has all but decided to field Sreeramulu as its candidate from Bellary in place of his sister, the sitting MP J Shanta. The party hopes that Sreeramulu’s popularity in the sizeable Valmiki Nayak community in the Bellary region would help the BJP win a few seats. While announcing his return to the BJP on Wednesday, Sreeramulu had said he was going back to help Narendra Modi become prime minister. Sources in the state BJP said Swaraj’s objections were likely to be overruled. “It is not fair on her part to object to the re-entry of Ramulu into the BJP after making maximum use of their services when the BJP was in power. She has called him her son in the past. Also, Ramulu has not been indicted for illegal mining like Janardhana Reddy, so how can he be an untouchable,†said a senior state BJP leader. Swaraj enjoyed a close working relationship with Sreeramulu and the Reddy brothers of Bellary for over a decade after they helped her take on Sonia Gandhi in Bellary in 1998. She often referred to Sreeramulu and Janardhana Reddy as her sons, and visited Bellary every year for the Varamahalakshmi puja where she was accorded the status of a special guest by the Reddys. The ties began deteriorating after Janardhana Reddy and the BJP’s Bellary legislators were indicted in a report of the Karnataka Lokayukta for allegedly helping the mining mafia. Swaraj severed her ties with the Bellary group and disowned them two years ago, after CBI arrested Janardhana Reddy.

With Vaiko's MDMK, and Ramadoss's PMK already on board, it appears that the BJP is building a rainbow alliance in the state. The question then is as to where this leaves the DMK. Can Captain win 1 seat?
