diga Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Got a Congress ticket, then joined BJP Dr Bhagirath Prasad, a retired IAS officer, was declared the Congress candidate from Bhind constituency in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. He was among the 194 nominees who figure in the first list. He had unsuccessfully contested the last Lok Sabha elections in 2009 from the same seat on a Congress ticket. "After remaining in Congress since then, I realised that there is no situation in the party (Congress) where you can serve the people the way you want. It has a lot of divisions," Mr Prasad told mediapersons, justifying his sudden switch. "The welfare of people is possible only through this (BJP) party," he added, praising Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. :hysterical:

He always tries to conduct a fair discussion and gently but firmly brings back participants on the topic whenever they go off topic :hatsoff:

Especially in seemandhra region
G_B_ Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 This election is make or break for the TDP. Its not quite strong in Telangana and its not quite strong in Seemandhra. It may need the BJP to stay relevant within the state. I doubt the Chandrababu will be able to form government in either of the states. I realises this and probably is looking to get a cabinet gig in the NDA to stay relevant and in the media. The situation in Andhra (combined) is quite heartening for the BJP. It could be that the BJP and TDP become long time partners something similar to Shiv sena in Maharashtra. They might become a force within both new states within 10-15 years. Enough to get 10% of the vote on a regular basis.

They seems to be very angry with BJP and has announced that they will fight against BJP in the Maha assembly elections. That's advantage Cong-NCP... Looks like Maharashtra will see a long rule of Cong-NCP because of this stupid fight between SS and MNS... state legislative council polls from what i am reading and not assembly. I dont think the sena leadership gives a **** about them. Udhav is making a lot of noise cause he wants two plum cabinet berths. They make say a lot but its to keep the bjp on their toes and also get gains at national level. the RPI will be the game changer in Mumbai region. Plus Raju shetti means that the sena-bjp alliance should prevail.

Not sure about the 1 seat in Pondy. Usually congress strong hold so congress might win it. Won't be surprised if Chidambaram decides to contest from there.

In September 2011, Garg's team got its hands on a file with a noting on spectrum allocation that seemed to put finance minister P Chidambaran in the line of fire. Based on other documents, Garg filed a petition that accused former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, former head of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Suresh Kalmadi and others of wrongdoing in the preparations for the 2010 event. An advocate by profession, Garg said the idea of setting up an RTI cell to train party workers in using the law to expose corruption came from Delhi BJP leader Harsh Vardhan in 2008. "Seeing the success of our work in Delhi, the top brass decided to form a national RTI cell in 2009," he added. The cell, which has eight lawyers, has conducted workshops for party workers on using the transparency law to obtain crucial documents :hatsoff:

DMK are in alliance with VC , Pudiya Thamilagam (Both Dalit parties) , Muslim league and MMK(both Muslim parties).DMK has allocated 1 seat each to all these parties and is contesting in 35 seats.Have already announced their candidates for all these 35 seats. DMK tried to rope in DMDK (Vijayakanth party) but he refused and has started alliance talks with BJP.Rumors are that he is allocated 14 seats and PMK 10 , MDMK 8 and BJP contesting in 10 seats.They havent confirmed their alliance yet becoz they cant yet agree on which constituency to whom.Very likely that one of them (PMK or DMDK) will walk out of the alliance due to the seat allocation issue. As for ADMK they are contesting in all 40 seats and have announced candidates and started campaining as well. It looked initially Cummunists were in alliance with Amma but couldnt agree on the no. of seats .CPM and CPI both wanted 3 each but ADMK gave 1 seat each.So the alliance broke off.

I feel that the BJP alone would need at least 200 seats in order to be able to get fairly reliable allies and run a stable government. With 180 seats, there is a good chance that the other parties will gang up on the BJP and either form a minority government headed by the Congress or a third front government supported on the outside by the Congress.
