Haddin keeping for fast bowling in this series should be made into a template for keeping against fast bowling. It was thrilling to watch his keeping. Johnson against England tail completely changed their top order to change their plan that is a key. Second of all guys like COok who shows enoromous patience was rattled so badly that he had to resort to play attacking shots very early . Johnson brought everyone out of their comfort zone. It completely messed up their plan. Since Harris/Siddle/Lyon were relentless they had no escape .

His aggressive bowling in the first test was the main reason England disintegrated completely. He put fear in English batsmen and not a single English batsmen was able to stand up to him. He was the main reason for this scoreline. But nowadays batsmen have all kind of protective gears. Why they should have any fear of fast bowling? They should not get intimidated with pace bowling.

They should not get intimidated with pace bowling. That is upto individual who faces the ball. Pretty much all English batsmen tried their best to avoid facing Johnson. Nobody was comfortable. We made fun of Raina running towards non striker for a non existing single to avoid facing Steyn which resulted in Rohit's run out. Many English top order batsmen did exactly that.

I have never seen a team that is so scared of a fast bowler in this modern era. With all the protective gears they were looking like kittens.

It is well documented and proven on this forum that with advent of protective gears, facing fast bowlers have become children game.

You could see that nervous smile on Ian Bell's face when he had just come in second innings of last test as Johnson bowled a ripping bouncer at his chin and he managed to put the bat on it.

Siddle and Harris were responsible for most of the top order getting out. MJ mostly cleaned up the tail.

WIth feet trembling your entire top order looked like kittens against Johnson. Feet stuck, terrified of bouncers they were clueless. Possibly the most timid batting iby any team i have ever seen . All the pitches were flat bar Gabba to some extent. Even on those pitches you guys could not wait to get to other end.

They didn't know how to play him, that's the difference.

Lord Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I like Siddle.not the most talented but big hearted.always at the batsmen and can bowl long spells.Still remember the Adelaide test 5th day where he could barely walk back to his mark but ran in hard again and again.Very committed plus hes very fit by Aussie pacers' standards.cant remember when he was last injured.so he gotta be there imo
