People talking about improvements in grounds are literally taking the piss. Bathrooms in Indian grounds are worse than bus stations unless you are talking about box seats.
I had to hold up for 2 hours in mohali :giggle:

It is fundamentally dishonest to create a per capita thing out of this. Generally (and there are exceptions' date=' I know) people consider sports as a career in India only when they are financially secure to an extent (let's talk reality and not Chak De India). You can keep citing any figures you want, but the reality is people will not get involved in sports to the extent of producing Imternational level players till they are assured of roti, kappa Makaan to borrow a hackneyed line.[/quote'] The job of the BCCI is to provide the facilities to every section and geographic area. Somebody like Vijay Zol in the marathi newspapers claimed he had to move heaven and earth to play for Mahrashtra. Why ? Cause he comes from a village near aurangabad and Pune is 200km away which the MCA has faculties and thats Maharashtra, a state with the highest concentration of international cricket grounds in the country. Now a days even the affiliates in Mumbai cricketers like Tambe are earning 10-12lakhs which is what an MBA in the city earns. Some player in NZ for example has the benefit of the welfare state to fall back on. Surely the BCCI need to be given more money. In England literally everybody is 50km from a ground. I can get to 5 cricket grounds in the space of 1 hour by car.

no their not. I have recently been to wankhede and dy patil. Both have toilets as good as the rose bowl or lords. Infact the refurbished Wankhede is better than Lords. My friends have been to the new state of the art stadium in Pune and its the same. Very good infra.

Ohh K. Now it all makes sense. Poor BCCI have been struggling for money all these years, that is why we have average grounds with substandard facilities for the public. Nobody believes they're doing it for the good of cricket in India. All extra monies are going to be pocketed by those involved.
again the grounds in my expirience have nothing but improved. The old wankhede built in the 1970s was a joke. The new one is fantastic. So money is very much being spent on building new grounds. The MCA are currently renovating dadoji kondev in Thane just on the outskirts of mumbai and their bkc ground. So money in mumbai is very much being spent on infra. There is also a new ground coming up in Kalyan dombivali. I think its becoming a myth that the BCCI does not spend money on stadiums. I can tell you first hand that the stadiums in Maharashtra have heavily improved and are as good as the ones in England. As i have been to both sets literally in the last 6 months or so. Maybe there are certain associations who dont spend their money in infrastructure. But atleast in western maharashtra which includes Mumbai and Maharashtra cricket the changes have been there physically for all to see. So its fundamentally unfair to deny the cricket associations and the affiliates that support them chance to provide their populations with infrastructure.

A dumb argument if ever there was one. Even before this proposal the 10 permanent members of cricket did not have to qualify for ICC events. I wonder what Fatatunga has to say about that. Its the same with rugby union. Full members or founding members qualify automatically. Its stupid to compare FIFA to cricket or any other sport. No other sport has such a depth to it. Lets also keep in mind that all but one of the presidents of FIFA has been from Europe. The majority of countries for the FIFA world cup are from Europe. So even in football which people love to quote, the region or continent producing the most money for the sport has the most say. ITs always the case with every sport. Does anybody really think a non european is going to replace Blatter? Sooner or later through, the Chinese will flex their muscles and we will see even in football their money talking. There will be for example more qualifiers from the east asia region which will allow China to qualify. Why cause the money the chinese are bringing to fifa is starting to impact the balance of power.

So Srinivasan does seem to represent the mentality of the general indian population here on ICF... I predict that progress made by associate nations is going to cease... and nations like pakistan, south africa, etc are going to struggle. Test cricket will really be played only by india, US and England, t20 leagues will take over and international cricket will eventually collapse.

Most Indian fans support BCCI getting a better turn on what they bring to the table. As per the draft report India brings in 80% for which the BCCI wants a 21% return. Up from a 7.5% return. IMO that is fair. So despite everything the BCCI is still very much subsidising world cricket. I for one dont support this "no team can be relegated" proposal and to be frank considering it does not generate too much money i doubt the BCCI care about that as well. Its mostly England and Aus who need that for their ashes commitments. As for being in charge in day to day running. I dont support that either. Just want a better share for Indian cricket which i want to be invested in our country creating jobs and boosting our economy.

I love how people here think they know more than Mani, Speed and Gray. It is just funny. It is like you guys have more stats than they do which is obviously not true since they are still working within cricket and you guys are still here. BCCI has enough money to go into infrastructure and facilities and all that jazz, if they aren't spending the money right then why should they receive more? It is about using the money right. I love how some points out from a Canadian point of view but they are shut down because apparently Canada has other sports. It is kind of disgraceful that people here would shut down people from having a different Point of view and actually insult them like when I was called greedy for no apparent reason at all. Then people are saying when the MCC and ACB were in power.... So 1 - Does that give BCCI the licence to do what these guys did wrong in history? Shouldn't you learn from history and try to avoid the mistakes of the previous powerbrokers? Apparently not because it is that attitude of revenge that is messed up. 2 - Didn't MCC and ACB bring in new countries playing cricket? Such as NZ, West Indies, India, South Africa, Pakistan, USA, Netherlands, Sri Lanka and so on? So weren't there more countries playing and actually having something to go with then nothing. Also I love how immediately it is Malcolm Speed or an Australian, Pakistani or Englishman they are immediately labeled racist but that's something even when I've been to India have seen. I don't know why they have blame everyone and call people racist when they get the definition and context completely wrong. Anyway that's beside the point but really I know Indians want BCCI to get more money but what are they doing with their money? If there isn't enough for infrastructure and grassroots then surely there is something wrong there. I think the current ICC system is terrible and this one will be worse, they needs to be better corporate governance. Because it is interesting that we know there is massive corruption in the BCCI, yet they need more for infrastructure and promoting the game in India. So there is a likely chance that the money will be going towards the BCCI members than the game of cricket. Then there is this 80% deal, does this include sponsorship? Are these figures fudged up like in normal businesses or inclusive of corporate that we with the BCCI such as Indian Cements and stuff like that. Don't get me wrong both CA and ECB are in the wrong as well but considering what we are hearing about the BCCI pulling stuff like having an ICC event ever 3 years and actually saying that they pullout while CA and ECB are keeping their mouths shut does paint an interesting picture. CA and ECB have stated that they will play 3 tests and 5 ODIs against everyone, we don't know if that is true at all but they have said something which BCCI hasn't on that which doesn't help either. Now there is this feeling that CA and ECB will actually veto the BCCI which wouldn't bode well either, there are some suggestions that they will backstab the BCCI which would have no good effect to anyone at all. However it does make you think, do the BCCI want cricket to be a global sport? Or do they want to assert themselves as one of the best in a niche sport? Which would explain a lot I mean considering the Woolf Report done by PWC who I might add was completely independent. Just because someone disagrees with you and they might be from Pakistan or Sri Lanka, does not give you the right to bag them out or treat them badly. We will never know the actually stats and cash flow of all the major boards and ICC unless you could hack them or you work within them. So to really shut down people and treat them badly here because they have a differing opinion is not right at all. Just treat each others with respect and for the love of sanity don't use the term racist unless you are using it right.

so we have India-Aus-England NZ and WI on board. Zim and BD need to be flipped.
Zimbabwe and Bangladesh will be the hardest hit by this proposed bullshyte why on earth would they vote for it ? Pakistan and South Africa cannot and will not be bought off and all we need is one of Lanka, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh to join us. Big pfail coming up for India and their @$$lickers ECB and CA.

Pak can be easily brought off. SA might be the only stubborn one in this lot.
Pak can be bought off ? :hysterical: :icflove: With what ? Empty promises ? India have been reluctant to play us for decades now and it won't change anytime soon.

PCB have always followed the BCCI diktats. Dont go by public posturing of your board officials. In ICC meetings, they ALWAYS do what their masters at BCCI order them to.

PCB might have sided with India against the status quo of Aus/Eng in the past ... but this current proposal is epic greedy badmashi from BCCI and the former Pakistani head of the ICC Ehsan Mani along with former PCB chiefs Sheryar Khan and Tauqir Zia have already come out strongly against it. P.S. .. go tell an average Pak cricket fan in real life that BCCI are their masters and we'll see what happens ... you boys are cocky little things online.

Excellent post as always Scarves. It echoed most of my sentiments :). Blokes like Keyboard Warripr are genuinely concerned as cricket fans. I myself want the integrity of the game to remain intact.
