Our fast bowlers will have to start using their brains more, says Mahendra Singh Dhoni

Why not use Ishwar Pandey if he is saying that through out the series they were not bowling right line and lenth, Ishawar has proven in domestic circle that he can maintain very good line and lenth at decent speed. This all just excuse from Dhoni as he is not a leader and does not have ability to identify talent as well do well with man management.

It's not about brains but about culture, India does not have a great fast bowling culture and when India do find talented bowlers India do not know how to nurture them. There is no point bowling 150+ when you can't hit the right line and length.

Dhoni is first grade moron We have some fast bowlers with real potential. But thats what they are potential. They are not the real deal yet and need grromong and developing. They need all they help they can get. This is were the moron comes in. Gives 2 over spells, one over spell. Gives insane tactics like bang it. Does all he can to get them out of team. These need all the right tactics, support and backing to get the best out of them. They dont have that and these are results I repeat aaron bowls 2 overs for only 10 runs. Gets a wicket in 2nd over and taken off. Comes back for another 2 over spell. This is exactly how he treated Yadav. Then we wonder why the pacers dont kick on and get better. Zero faith in them, they can feel it to not just us. Do anything in life you do it better when feel others have faith in you Then dhobi comes out after this game and slaughters pacers to media (so much for never hammering them in public). While Ishnat has been awful for yonks is nver subject to this. He simply is wrecking any chance of developing potential pacers. As they are just potetial and need all the help they can to become world class

Gavaskar lashes out at bowlers after defeat NEW DELHI: Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has lashed out at the indifferent show by the Indian bowlers in the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand which the visitors have already lost after the defeat in the fourth one-dayer in Hamilton today. Gavaskar was categorical in his criticism of the Indian bowlers who failed to defend a total of 278 in the fourth ODI to give New Zealand an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match rubber. “Bowling is a major concern for India. I don’t know what the problem is. I don’t know whether they are getting any guidance or not. They are commiting the same mistakes again and again. Until they rectify the mistakes soon, it will be very difficult during next year’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand,” Gavaskar said today. The legendary opener also questioned the team selection and combination that was used on the day. “It appeared to me that some of the changes are for the sake of changes. This is what happens when you come on an overseas tour with only two specialist openers. You try to send your best batsman ( Virat Kohli) to open when you have a player ( Ajinkya Rahane) who has opened for India in the T20 format. It was hard to understand and I found it a little strange,” Gavaskar told NDTV. Gavaskar feels that an opener’s job is a specialist one and a No 3 shouldn’t have been sent to open the batting. http://gulftoday.ae/portal/60fa22cd-67e8-4945-9135-842c2ef92216.aspx

280 was too hard to defend on this pitch, look at some of the recent scores posted at this ground. Even the west indies scored 363 their recently. Look how easily Jadeja was playing at the end. Rayudu and sharma wasted too many deliveries. and rahane and kohli played dumb shots thats the reason Dhoni lost. really confused with this rant because he generally is supportive of his bowlers on flat pitches.

Spinners did bowl well in conditions not suited for them. No team can win outside the SC without one or two strike pace bowlers' date=' and India has just half a strike bowler in Shami. 20 overs for 74 by Jaddu and Ashwin was a match winning effort after our batsmen made 279. But where were the rest of the bowlers, I mean the pace bowlers? One or two wickets from them at 6.5 rpo killed the game for India.[/quote'] ER does not matter if you do not take wickets because there was no way we could have contained them. To win, we needed 10 wickets and spinners not taking any wickets didn't help either. If they had taken even 2 wickets after 10, I do not think fast bowlers would have gone for so many runs later.

"Back at home we talk about pace and bounce. We get bowlers who can bowl quick but they end up giving more runs without even bowling at the slog. So we have to find a fair balance. what can we infer from this?
He wants Vinay Kumar.

I just cannot believe how you guys keep ridiculing Dhoni for every thing. Aaron did not bowl anything spectacular yesterday' date=' the wicket he got was also a lucky one and then he kept feeding Ross Taylor short and wide balls. IF you guys can criticize Ishant for bowling bad not sure why you cannot criticize Aaron for bowling filth yesterday.[/quote'] Wasn't it Dhoni's idea to bowl short? They all just tried to execute it. Sometimes, you fo, sometimes fail.

They played 5 batsmen and 2 batsmen got out very early. What do you want them to do ? Another couple of wickets at that stage, we would have struggled to reach 200. The team combination sucked ***** yesterday. They played Binny and he never got to bat and bowled one over. That's a total waste and the whole batting order was changed. Kohli shouldn't have opened.

Plenty of middle overs were bowled by Shami, Kumar and Aaron and they did not get any wicket between the 15th to the 40th over - the only wicket we got was a run out. So pacers not only took zero wickets after the 10th over and unlike the spinners they were also very generous. Tighter bowling from the pacers would have caused RRR to climb to 9 or 10 for NZ for the last fifteen overs, but they were chasing only RRR of 6 for the last 15, thanks to our pacemen. No pressure whatsoever at the death.

Any bowler will struggle when you are bowling to two set batsmen. Even NZ bowler struggled to bowl to Dhoni and Jadeja when they got set. You need to get batsmen out before them getting set. Why did Dhoni take off Aaron and Shami when they had just picked up 2 crucial wickets of Ryder and Guptil and brought 2 spinners in who had struggled to take wickets all through the series. You cannot bowl same pace with 2 spinners in tandem and try to contain. He needed spin from one end as he wants them to contain and pace from one to attack and go for wickets. These are very basic mistakes Dhoni made. Poor field settings on short straight boundaries by third man and fine leg to wide and leaking too many boundaries which could easily be singles. It happened in both the last matches.

But they have 4 other bowlers who take wickets.
yeah pacers. Its the pacers that have first responsibility of taking wickets in these conditions.Even with NZ pacers taking wickets and being economical,Nathan McCullum couldnt take wickets. while we have only Shami who looks like taking wickets.BK too focuses on containing runs only these days.doesn't get wickets despite there being swing with new ball.others do neither.

How will fast bowlers take wicket when captain takes them off after taking wickets in last over and give them 2-over spells?

i would back these bowlers to the end. What was up with team combo? Kohli opening? I knew instantly that he could fail. Should have been rahane/rohit for that one match, kohli at 3, rayudu at 4, binny ahead of ashwin because ashwin can get us the runs at 6-8 it doesn't matter. We needed quick runs and then binny gets 1 over with rayudu getting 3? Dumb captaincy tbh. Let the pacers develop. They just need guidance and backing.

yeah that was bad.I think Dhoni is worried about Aaron's fitness so bowls him in 2 over spells. but otherwise pacers have looked very bad overall.Their is just no pattern in their bowling.no stock ball.NZ bowlers bowl a stock ball in a good area over and over again whereas our guys seem to look for magic ball everytime and end up bowling all over the place.very hard to control that

No player has really developed or come on under Dhoni. His legacy in terms of tactics and developing talent will be non-existent.
Absolutely apart from Virat no one has developed under him he backs bits and pieces players and honestly when it comes to judging talent Dhoni is very poor.
