What is your all time asian test xi? Mine: 1. Sunil Gavaskar 2. Anwar/Sehwag 3. Rahul Dravid 4. Sachin Tendulkar 5. VVS Laxman 6. Kumar Sangakara 7. Kapil Dev 8. Imran Khan 9. Wasim Akram 10.Waqar Younis 11.Mutiah Muralidharan Honourable mention: Mahela, Kumble, Ishant, Saqlain, Akhtar, YK etc.

The most enterprising opener averages in 20s in Eng SA and NZ. Anwar held in own in most conditions. Averaged in 40+ in Eng Aus and NZ 34 in SA. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

Anwar has no business being mentioned alongside THE most enterprising opener the game has ever seen. A good case can be made for Miandad' date=' in lieu of Laxman but Laxman did own that lower order batting spot. Sanga hasn't really been outstanding in keeper-batsman role in tests i think? Dhoni will run him close, he's not quite done with his career yet. He could well end up as the only Asian keeper with a batting average in 40s.[/quote'] actually i changed my mind. Its Sehwag who has no business being in the same team as Anwar. Atleast Anwar had a very good home and away record vs a quality attack (Aus)

Mutiah Muralidharan Sehwag is probably a better fit for FTB XI along with Mahela. He averages a mere 33 in Aus/Eng/SA/NZ with 4 100s from 30 matches. Anwar averages 43 with 4 100s from 15 matches.

^Anwar was a tailender against 2 of the best attacks of his time(SA, WI). At least Sehwag made up for his failures overseas by butchering all great/very good bowlers in the subcontinent. Not to mention the fact that he has a much better record after playing twice as many Tests as Anwar. Even Sidhu is better than Anwar (pwned Warne/Murali and did respectably against most of the great fast bowlers of his time).

LMAO @ incontinent pakis! Anwar has played a grand total of 3 matches in Australia, Sehwag has 11. He has 4 in South Africa for Viru's 8. For a sample THAT small, one good match can entirely change the averages. So Anwar, the all terrain beast for pakis, has played a grand total of 10 or so matches in SA, Australia and England combined. Against Viru's 11 in Australia alone. And what about home conditions? Viru's 55 @ a strike rate of 84 versus Anwar anemic 45 at a SR of 54? LOL Anwar is a footnote. Nobody gives a rat's fart about a player who ran out of gas at 55 tests. Sehwag is a COLOSSUS, an avante garde practitioner of his craft.
calling sehwag a COLLOSSUS is a joke. A batsman who played in a weaker bowling era than Anwar, yet has a lower average outside the sub continent is no Colossus. Sehwag is the footnote here.

Good call on Siddhu. Anwar was probably at his level. Similar figures with respect to matches played, and centuries scored. Also just noted Anwar's average against one of the best attacks of 90s...the windies. Not even in 20s. LOL. Despite never having played in windies. Double LOL. Pissed in his pants against real pace, it seems. Not everyone can be Sehwag though, two triple centuries spanking two of the fastest bowlers. Siddhu definitely went very well against two of the best attacks in 90s...windies and Pakistan.
yup, Anwar pissed his pants against real pace, i suppose. Thats why he scored a match winning century in SA vs SA and against one of the quickest bowlers in the world (someone called Allan Donald, btw) comparing Siddhu to Anwar is a joke, Anwar was a far better player than Siddhu.

after 55 tests sehwag-54 anwar-46 difference is huge,considering sehwag's strike rate

He was decent against WI/Pak but was far more impressive than Anwar's disastrous performances against WI/SA. His gritty 116 vs Marshall and co and a match saving 97 vs Pak in '89 deserve a mention. He was also very good against the great Richard Hadlee. And he was pretty much the greatest modern day player of spin along with Brian Lara. All Anwar has are a couple of fine series against Australia and a fluke 100 against SA when Donald didn't even bowl that much. :giggle: And he is being compared with Sehwag. Lulz. PS: Anwar has one 50+ score in about 50 ODIs vs Aus/SA :cantstop:
