Wished to pick a third XI, but cannot find enough current players. Mankad, Gupte, Mushtaq Mohammed, Engineer, Vishwanath, Amar Singh and Nissar all had been anecdotally mentioned as good players, but haven't seen none of them bar Vishwanath.

yup' date=' Anwar pissed his pants against real pace, i suppose. Thats why he scored a match winning century in SA vs SA and against one of the quickest bowlers in the world (someone called Allan Donald, btw)[/quote']And Shewag was never faced with quality of pace likes of Donald / de Villiers / McMillian or Ambrose / Bishop / Walsh type of combinations. McGrath / Gillespie / Lee was ATG, but lacked that absolute ruthlessness when on the song like above two attacks. The same reason I select Sachin over Lara.

Sangakkara is not good enough to be a keeper in a West Indies side of the 90s' date=' nevermind against bonafide spin greats.[/quote']Sangakkara would walk in to the WI all time XI as a keeper TBH.

Sanga is not a good wicketkeeper. He is a glorified backstop. Dhoni is actually quite a good keeper. Ideally I'd have Mongia ofcourse but he was a cheat, so i had to overlook him. I dont care how gun a batsman Sanga is, he isnt fit to tie my shoes at wicketkeeping, let alone Dhoni or anyone who is a fulltime keeper.
Then cannot look pass PJ. Absolute ATG keeper and averages 32 with the bat.

Donald bowled 10 overs in 2nd inning where Anwar scored a 100. Compare that to Fanie's 16, Pollock's 22 and Kallis' 17. Sehwag scored a 100 on debut in SA against Pollock, Ntini, Kallis, Hayward.
That easily shuts the argument. Anwar's ventury is miles ahead of Shewag's. If you don;t believe me just check how good Fanie de Villiers was. This is the guys who single handendly sent Aussies reeling to the defeat in Australia. Fanie >> Ntini and Hayward.

ODI XI Sachin Tendulkar - Self explanatory. Best ever ODI opener, perhaps the best Asian Sanath Jayasuriya(6) - Best allrounder of the era Zaheer Abbas - Probably the second best batsman behind SRT Virat Kohli - Gun player. Although he has not ended career. he is very good. Aravinda de Silva(7) - X facor, with explosive innings, and coolness at crunch events Angelo Mathews(5) - Caould not select another AR who comes to match winning ability with bat and the ball. MS Dhoni - The finisher, and possibly the best AR in ODI Kapil Dev(1) - Steady bowler, with smashing abilities at the death. Wasim Akram(2) - Gun bowler Waqar Younis(3) - Those toe crushers at the death. Muttiah Muralitharan(4) - No ODI bowler was as consistent as him, perhaps McGrath.

ODI 2nd XI Saeed Anwar - The original master blaster TM Dilshan(7) - thought of going with Shewag, but this guys is lot better against short and fast stuff. Kumar Sangakkara - arrely keeper batsman evrage 40 unless you are Dhoni or ABDV Saurav Ganguly - dream of the off side play Inzamam ul Haq - provides the X factor Yuvraj Singh(6) - hias a magnificient record Imran Khan(1) - Captaincy and quality opening bowling. Can use long handle too. Abdul Razzaq(5) - Superb all rounder. Can build innings or hit out as a batsman. steady 5th bowler. Chaminda Vaas(2) - when you need that deadly accuracy, this is the go to man. Shoaib Akthar(3) - provides that fiery moments. Saqlain Mushtaq(4) - no spinner had a peak as this guy. Easily the second best all time ODI spinner.

Don't thing Saeed Anwar deserves a place here. If this is an ALL TIME eleven, there is no better opener than Hanif Mohammad with Gavaskar. If not Hanif then no one is better than Sehwag. Don;t think Saeed would come even close to Viru. Kapil was an all time great allrounder but with Imran Khan batting at number 7 and Sanga at 6, we don;t need another allrounder. If a fast bowler is needed, which would make 4 in the team then Akhat at his peak was way more dangerous than any other bowlers and deserves a place ahead of Kapil. If match is played at spinner friendly wicket, I would replace Kapil with a spinner and 4 names come in mind. Kumle, Saqi, Qadir and Saeem Ajmal. With Murli already their, I would not add another offee and Kumple would edge out Qadir with a very small margin. Mindad has to be there, the guy who single-handedly supported Pakisatn batting for almost a decade. Laxman was a classy player but not in Miandad was a much better match winner. Here's my final 11 1-Gavaskar 2-Viru 3-Dravid 4-Tendulkar 5-Miandad 6- Sanga 7-IK (captain ) 8-Wasim-9-Akhtar-10-Waqar 11-Murli
