Cricketics Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 what u mean given out @ mp.. guy took a clean catch.. lifted the ball in the air so that the ball doesn't goes with hin in the bo undary.. and when he got his balance rite took the catch and hence was given out..

coffee_rules Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I have seen Hall standing outside the rope when the ball was delivered in the recent Ind-SA series in SA. I guess they have relaxed the rule now. Also, I have seen Freddie getting physio help during play outside the boundary line.

Going by the rule then even in this case it would have been a lot easier for the fielder if he had planted his right foot outside the boundary and lifted it as he is about to take the catch but would that have been fair?

I don't see why not ? As long as you aren't actually touching the turf outside the boundary line the moment you hold the ball, the catch counts.
