CSK Fan Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 True there is no 50/50 in noball. Not even an inch you are allowed to touch. Question was whether it was touching or in air. 3rd umpire interpreted otherwise
bharat297 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Nor is there clear evidence that it didn't... so who gets the benefit of doubt? Well when you're talking about overturn a decision, I think the benefit of the doubt has to go to whoever got the benefit of the original decision. If there's not enough evidence to overturn a decision, then don't do it
urbestfriend Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 How is it blatant when it was so' date=' so close? At worse a 50 50 call[/quote'] This..It was at best 50-50 , even if that touched the crease there it is very thin, so it is umpires call.
CSK Fan Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Nor is there clear evidence that it didn't... so who gets the benefit of doubt? Original decision was out (yeah I know it's not DRS) so question of benefit doesn't arise. And if it was question of benefit of doubt it is not blatant cheating is it? I am just concerned that blaming decisions are a good way to hide real problems in the team
bharat297 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Yeah it was just illusion that the back foot landing on the crease was. The kiwi commentators must be dreaming to mention it repeatedly Even in the above picture, it doesn't look like his foot has actually landed on that line. The shadow of the top part of his shoe means it's hard to see clearly where that distinction is.
IndianRenegade Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Question was whether it was touching or in air. 3rd umpire interpreted otherwise Fine I agree... but he took like 3-4 seconds to interpret it? seems like he was just too keen to do it... a third umpire has the ability to see different angles... zoom ins to decide... but he did none of that... was so keen...
Gollum Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Umpires have cost us many matches throughout history. Why we don't agree to DRS baffles me no end !!!
NameGoesHere Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Hardly cheating. It was a marginal call. Had we been the bowling team, I'm sure many of would be justifying the decision.
IndianRenegade Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Original decision was out (yeah I know it's not DRS) so question of benefit doesn't arise. And if it was question of benefit of doubt it is not blatant cheating is it? I am just concerned that blaming decisions are a good way to hide real problems in the team Wrong. Did they appeal? Or Did they umpire raise his finger? Did the on field umpire call that out? All of them was implicitly assumed because the ball crashed on to the stumps. Further more the on-field umpires are the ones who want to check if that is a no ball to verify the legality of the dismissal, so the to say the original decision was out is dubious. No one is saying Indian team doesn't have problems. It has huge problems in bowling, fielding and batting departments. The decisions go against India people say, India can't complaint because BCCI doesn't want DRS. But when the man behind DRS does something wrong, you still can't complaint anyways.. what? he took so little time to examine such a crucial decision and didn't give the benefit of doubt to the batsmen...
adi B Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 dhoni himself wasn't keen to stay there.it was a wrong decision but india would still have gone on to lose the match
Ultimate_Game Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 It's not cheating, just tough luck and happens all the time in sports. Corey Anderson got the rough end of the stick in the 1st innings and we were worse off in our 2nd innings. It's up to BCCI to incorporate DRS else we will be at the mercy of rough umpiring calls.
IndianRenegade Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Hardly cheating. It was a marginal call. Had we been the bowling team, I'm sure many of would be justifying the decision. Agree not cheating... its a marginal call. I agree it could have gone either ways... the only thing that baffles me is when there was so much room for doubt the man behind the button didn't want a second look and was too keen to give that out. It happens, the Indian team shouldn't see it as the decision that lost them the game. But the people who run the game should look at how people with technology make decisions hastily. Not the first time it is happening.
IndianRenegade Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Quit whining, in the end of the day results matter. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk Going by this logic match-fixing is ok. you get results there too...
zep1706 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 He is a bit reckless but today was not his fault. If anything he got India closer.
BeautifulGame Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 dhoni himself wasn't keen to stay there.it was a wrong decision but india would still have gone on to lose the match The real issue is how can a 3rd refuse to apply the laws of the game. No it wasn't a poor decision. Poor decision is what happened to Rahane . Fair enough that happens in cricket and we move on. But when a 3rd despite having all the technology and slow mo available simply gives the wrong decision its clearly intentional. If not then we fans should be explained the thought process behind that by ICC

Ultimate_Game Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Like when was the last time it happened? Sorry can't figure out what you are alluding to.
Tailender Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 It was a 50 50 call. Decisions have gone both ways throughout the game. Let's not have selective amnesia now. In the end it was a brilliant game. Now stop crying and go to bed.
BeautifulGame Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 Sorry can't figure out what you are alluding to. When was the last time a 3rd umpire failed to detect a no ball despite having video slow mo replys?
