...another overseas defeat and feeling of helplessness, now even against New Zealand We know the vast majority of Indian cricket fans only stay-up to watch ODIs and have the attention span for ODIs and T20s. They rate India's cricketing success based on the ODI games incl. World Cup, Champions Trophy, Asian Cup, bi-lateral series etc. And unfortunately our media, sponsors and BCCI are enslaved to this demand. Which means Tests failures don't get much scrutiny from fans, media, and BCCI. In a striaght shootout between Tests and ODIs which one will you judge India's cricketing success?

For me, test wins are as important as World Cup. Most other games don't mean a lot even though I want to see them win. Majority of fans in India consider World Cup as the holy grail, followed by ODIs and T20s and tests.

You need to add "World Cup" as an option. To me the hierarchy is as follows... 1. World Cup 2. Away Test wins against Australia & South Africa 3. Away Tests against other teams and Home Test wins 4. Champions Trophy and World T20 5. Asia Cup 6. Odis 7. T20 Internationals Don't care about IPL or Champions League at all and couldn't care less who wins those.
