However in the last few series he had made some massive errors. With all these news coming out I no longer trust him. Now I honest don't believe he is involved in match fixing, however if he including non starts like ishant binny etc under various obligation/ board/ srini pressure who in turn are controlling outcome of game based on crappy team selection that is as good as fixing by dhoni. Ex 4th ODI against nz, team selection batting order we could not have won that game with such an odd team composition.

Yes. I too agree with that. I don't believe that he himself would be involved in fixing. Betting may be, for some fun. He anyways earns way too much money to get involved in something like this. But at the same time he is extremely power hungry and loves being in attention. So he can very well go against best interests of Indian cricket to please his masters.

Problem is he didn't keep quite. He openly vouched for Mayappan and made statements which are absolute lies. Whole world knows that Mayappan was pretty much involved in running CSK.

That is not proof of Dhoni's collusion or corruption at all, that is proof of only one thing: Dhoni's compromised sitution. Lets put ourselves in Dhoni's shoes here. Our 'boss' is doing something shady but clearly covering his behind. Now, there is some investigation. In front of the whole freaking nation. Its nothing more than whispers and allegations at this point. I don't know what they have on my boss, all i know is my boss doesnt want me to tell 'he is the boss' on tv. I am 99% certain I'd have said the same thing as Dhoni, so would 99% of us. None of us are foolish or scared enough of a legal badge to go rat out our boss at the slightest hint of trouble. If we rat and then its just our word against boss's ( ie, say we find out after we rat on the boss that whatever they are charging him with, won't stick), then we are fooked. Ofcourse, Dhoni is less so than most of us because he is a multi-millionaire and team India captain. But he is still fooked if he rats on his boss and his boss isnt a sure-shot to go to jail. This is completely understandable and which is why dhoni will be easily cleared of this, as he should.

This why I was crying hoarse about the various conflicts of interest dhoni had. And some posters were still coming up with, does he favor people, etc, etc. That was never the point. Even the appearance of conflict of interest is enough to cause lots of problems and create these questions. How can a captain also own a player agency? How can the board president also own a team with the Indian captain as his team's captain and veto his removal by the selectors? This is the root of all confusion and problems. Even if Dhoni is completely clean these are the circumstances creating problems. This is why any conflict of interest should be avoided at all costs and should be nipped in the bud

This is not about ignorance of the law, given how stringently 'behind the scenes' this 'damaad' is, the 'shadow ownership' in a murky hidden heirarchy is easily explainable by the employee. This guy held no official portfolio and operated from behind the scenes, so the whole 'he said he wasnt the owner, he didnt seem like the owner, never claimed to be owner, so i believed him' is a very credible line of defence.

The 'criminal' part is months after Dhoni's statements. You cant say if someone supported a guy, who after painstaking trial and fact-finding, is proven to be a criminal, therefore this guy was aiding and abetting a criminal by applying hindsight. At the point in time it happened, the charges against Gurunath were not proven. So 'aiding and abetting a criminal' needs solid evidence. Otherwise, it is a simple case of ' i was helping a guy, who turned out to be a criminal'. Does not make one a criminal accessory in that case, otherwise every single friend and character reference of a criminal would also end up in jail.

Dhoni did not lie in some casual TV interview, but to a committee appointed by the SC to investigate serious charges regarding his team, possibly under oath. Don't know what you would or would not have done, but many would not have committed perjury so flippantly.
