vvvslaxman Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 If Dhoni has told to panel' date=' that G.m. was nothing but a cricket enthusiast and which panel have found to be absolutely false and have presented material evidence to prove that, than isn't dhoni is covering up an alleged criminal. I don't how difficult is that to understand.[/quote'] For argument sake you can say Dhoni was not knowing what his role was actually. Say a guy has committed a murder and he will have few witnesses showing up for him. But he is found guilty later on. Then everyone who testified for him won't become criminals. You can prove Meiyappan had more power. You cannot prove Dhoni knew about it. You can only assume.
CG Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 For argument sake you can say Dhoni was not knowing what his role was actually. Say a guy has committed a murder and he will have few witnesses showing up for him. But he is found guilty later on. Then everyone who testified for him won't become criminals. You can prove Meiyappan had more power. You cannot prove Dhoni knew about it. You can only assume. It is worth remembering that in a 2011 interview with the Hindu Business Line, Meiyappan said the following: “Before every game, Dhoni, Fleming and I exchange our elevens at 5.45 p.m. (for the night matches).†And this: “Fleming and I spent countless hours in the lead-up to the auction. In the last three days, we conducted mock auctions, picked around 45 different combinations.†That certainly sounds like Meiyappan had a lot to do with the cricketing affairs of CSK. It suggests either Dhoni or Meiyappan was not telling the whole truth about the nature of the latter's association with the team. The facts would suggest it is Meiyappan who is telling the truth, not Dhoni.
Crookbond Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Let me TL;DR on the entire Meiyappan issue 1 - Meiyappan responsible for betting but doesn't find his involvement in match fixing 2 - Meiyappan was Team Principal/Owner of CSK 3 - Meiyappan was in touch with bookies and regularly placed bets both in favor and against CSK 4 - No conclusive evidence to say Meiyappan was involved in match/spot fixing 5 - Conflict of interest is an issue but no opinion on it by the committee but only a note to the SC As far as the title of the OP is concerned, it is 100% correct. The report clearly says that MS Dhoni said Meiyappan was ONLY a cricket enthusiast and had nothing to with cricketing affairs of CSK. The veracity of this statement is neither however not contested by the probe committee. This means, Dhoni's statement may be true or false.
Desi Cartman Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Bhajji is most likely to use Maaki ...like the rest of our guys than monkey.Monkey doesn't even seem like an abuse to most Indian......bandar is more like an endearment and less like an abuse...Bandar kaheen ka...:icflove:Unless bhajji is in love with symonds which didn't seem like the case then. He called symonds monkey during the game at Mumbai before and also apologized. On that day during the test what he said can never be confirmed. All I know is that victims of racism usually don't declare abuse and put themselves in front of millions for no reason. Once they do, they associate that racist taunt with them forever and who would want that ?
beetle Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 The issue is not whether Dhoni knew that Meiyappan was involved in betting - I am pretty sure he did not. The issue is that he lied about Meiyappan's role, possibly under oath. Shameful. This.......considering he knew that jackass was getting investigated for a criminal offense. No one is accusing Dhoni of anything more than that.Pretty shameful.

It doesn't contest or support Dhoni's statement.
urbestfriend Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Dhobi should be shown Black Flags once he lands back in India... Get AAP guys behind him to do Dharna wherever he goes... If things not working then get MNS guys on the case.. :protest: Or Ask Kejriwal to field a new captaincy candidate against Dhoni and ask Janata for selection, Janata sabakh sikhayegi.

CG Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 You can still be a cricket enthusiast "with power and without official title" and still do that.. Again argument sake :) He said he and nothing to do with cricketing mattersm, which was lie.
Raghav_12 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 The fact that instead of avoiding responding to panel or declaring his ignorance on the matter, he pro-actively asserted that g.m. was just a cricket enthusiast turns dhoni's action as clear cover up. Report clearly concludes that what dhoni was absolute lie. Doesn't it mean dhoni giving lie to defend an alleged criminal?
vvvslaxman Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 He said he and nothing to do with cricketing mattersm' date='which was lie.[/quote'] May be Meiyappan lied. lol
vvvslaxman Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Come on DHoni pulled a Tendulkar.. let us move on :fishing:
Raghav_12 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Dhoni told that Meiyappan had no knowledge about cricketing matters of CSK. Probe says Meiyappan "is in a position to have access". It doesn't contest or support Dhoni's statement. Doesn't report mentioned that Hindu businessline thing where g.m. had admitted that he exchanged playing 11 with dhoni ?
Detonator Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Come on DHoni pulled a Tendulkar.. let us move on :fishing: Rajya Saba members (politicians, in general) can lie. :giggle:
Raghav_12 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Lol at ppl ringing sachin here. Kohli abuses people on field and dhoni defends him.. that too is same thing as what he did in g.m. case !!
Crookbond Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Doesn't report mentioned that Hindu businessline thing where g.m. had admitted that he exchanged playing 11 with dhoni ? No - it doesn't cite the HBL said interview by Meiyappan in 2011. A Ctrl+F for the word "exchange" and "elevens" on the report retrieves empty results.
The Outsider Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Dhoni told that Meiyappan had no knowledge about cricketing matters of CSK. Probe says Meiyappan "is in a position to have access". It doesn't contest or support Dhoni's statement. Sitting in on team auctions implies no knowledge of cricketing matters?
Raghav_12 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 No - it doesn't cite the HBL said interview by Meiyappan in 2011. A Ctrl+F for the word "exchange" and "elevens" on the report retrieves empty results. Is that Hindu businesslike interview fake news?
Raghav_12 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 For argument sake you can say Dhoni was not knowing what his role was actually. He said that I know what his role was and it was nothing more than of a cricket enthusiast which was found to be a lie.
