putrevus Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 why was this guy dropped?? and that too for binny?
Ashrafool Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 i would love to see Varun Aaron injure more people' date=' with genuine bouncers than beamers... if he can achieve that on these wickets, i'll personally butcher the article on cricinfo..[/quote'] Why do u want to see people getting hurt? What a joke post.
Laaloo Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Why do u want to see people getting hurt? What a joke post. I wanna see blood on the pitch :diablo:
Blue Star Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Why do u want to see people getting hurt? What a joke post. seems like you play cricket with cotton ball.
Ashrafool Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 seems like you play cricket with cotton ball. I prefer football. But yeah players already face likes of steyn, johnson, Anderson, etc and you think they will be scared of Aaron? :giggle:
Ashrafool Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 What happened to one of yours left arm seamer? I forgot his name but he was pretty good.
Straight Drive Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Varun is injury prone. Two injury breaks in just 8 ODI matches.Performance wise too below average so far.He will struggle to make a comeback in playing 11.
SLICKR392 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 What happened to one of yours left arm seamer? I forgot his name but he was pretty good. Unadkat? Lol :giggle:
rkt.india Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 Varun is injury prone. Two injury breaks in just 8 ODI matches.Performance wise too below average so far.He will struggle to make a comeback in playing 11. Every genuine pacer has been injury prone in history of cricket, does not mean you discard them and those injuries are not fitness issues. This is the type of bowlers who become strike bowlers in international cricket, not your dibbly dobbly Binnys. We need to play and back the likes of Umesh and Aaron. LOI cricket is far more difficult these days than it ever was. Most young bowlers are finding it difficult to make their mark straight away. Aaron should be back tomorrow.
CG Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 India did not have anybody express bowlers like yadav, aaron so it does not know how to handle them. You got to think of them in batting terms as sehwag as somebody who can win a match on their good day and can be hammered on bad days initially.Aaron and yadav need to be persisted with and developed with world cup 2015 in mind. In odis pace matters and in australia it will matter even more.Aaron can be developed to be a death over specialist as he bowls a good yorker and yadav given the new ball to get early wickets.
Ashrafool Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Unadkat? Lol :giggle: Lol who is that? Oh found him RP Singh.

And all this talk about him Varun being the most promising find is something i disagree with.He has impressed on pace front a lot.Whereas, he has flopped in other line, length, variations aspects.Just gives batsmen pace to make their task of hitting 4 and 6ers easy and thats why his economy rate is so high. I am surprised you are comparing him with Binny.Binny is not a specialist bowler. So i don't want to debate on it.I would rather compare Varun with Bhuv and Shami.Don't compare Varun with Binny to prove he is a better bowler. And amongst the specialist pacers, Varun is the least performing bowler at this point of time.So he is the first bowler who will get dropped if there are better alternatives or alternatives who should be tried if he keeps on failing.

As I already said his bone injury has nothing to do with fitness but young age and raw growing body. Every genuine fast bowler goes through them at an early age, but he is fit now after that back surgery. There is no fitness issues with him. An unfit bowler cannot sustain the pace he bowled for 10 overs. And all this talk about him Varun being the most promising find is something i disagree with.He has impressed only on pace front a lot.Whereas, he has flopped in other line, length, variations aspects.Just gives batsmen pace to make their task of hitting 4 and 6ers easy and thats why his economy rate is so high. Thing is pace is first thing you look at in a fast bowler, other things can be learnt but not pace. Ask any cricket expert. Most young inexperienced bowlers are picked because they can bowl quick and they learn things while within the setup. Any bowler you will pick wont doing miracles from day one. I am surprised you are comparing him with Binny.Binny is not a specialist bowler. So i dont want to debate on it.I would rather compare Varun with Bhuv and Shami.Don't comapre Varun with Binny to prove he is a better bowler. And amongst the specialist pacers, Varun is the least performing bowler at this point of time.So he is the first bowler who will get dropped if there are better alternatives or alternatives who should be tried if he keeps on failing. Thing is yesterday Binny replaced him giving excuse that he can bowl wicket to wicket on a slow track so I would only see him as a bowler and he batted as low as at #8. I would not have any complaint if they had picked Pandey or even Mishra seeing the conditions but Binny does not bring anything to the table. He bowled really poorly in one last match, even Shami has been going for 7-8 rpo. BK too did not bowl anything special in NZ ODIs. Shami's ER was also very high. Look at how many times he has also gone for 7-8 plus RPO since SA tour. They too are not exactly winning us games. Aaron picked 4 wickets in 3 matches in NZ at 35, not bad for a bowler coming back after more than 2 years and only played 1 game in SC. Rules also have changed since the last time he played, especially the 2 new ball rule has hurt both our paces and spinners. Likes of Aaron and Shami have done well with old ball getting reverse. It will take time to adjust and get back to rhythm and for that, he will have to play and these ODIs are not of much use and should be taken as team building rather than just results. We have time to prepare these guys till WC.

Pace is not the only quality a pace bowler should be selected for international level.International cricketers are facing 145 - 150 and even 153 in their domestic setups and in teams nets as well as matches.Pace no longer guarantees wickets and economy rate.what makes a better pace bowler is how they bowl and how they vary pace, how they set up batsmen etc.To set up batsmen one has to first control the ball, not just dart it at 150 kph like Shaun Tait and give a boundary ball almost every over. Nobody wants him to do miracle on day 1.All we want him to show is that he can control the ball and that control is reflected in line, length and variations. His economy rate suggests that he has failed to bowl in right areas. There is absolutely no control. Some bowls are even beamers which are much worse than full toss. I have to disagree that Varun has bowled better than Shami.Shami has bowled way better than Varun in this series too.Atleast that guy picks up 3 , 4 wickets even if on odd day he gets tonked like others. Some matches he even keeps runs below 5 like we saw against Bangladesh while taking 4 wickets as well as choking runs. We need to find pacers who can support Shami.Bhuv has done relatively ok in this series, but he too needs to pick 3- 4 wickets in few matches like Shami does.Failed project Binny and Varun should be stopped temporarily and project Ishwar should start.Time to have a look at Ishwar and see if he can bowl line and length with decent variations against international class batsmen.

You do not get readymade bowlers and anyone you chose wont become that overnight. You will have play them and let them learn. Even Shami was bowling poorly and was even dropped. You need to give them time and space to learn and improve. Nobody wants him to do miracle on day 1. All we want him to show is that he can control the ball and that control is reflected in line, length and variations. His economy rate suggests that he has failed to bowl in right areas. There is absolutely no control. Some bowls are even beamers which are much worse than full toss. He was bowling pretty well before he got injured in his first 4 matches. I do not think you saw him then. We all know if he again starts bowling like that he will have a permanent place in this side. He is only making a come back after a long gap and is still finding his rhythm. Even one of the best ODI bowler Brett Lee went for 200 plus in test and 80 plus runs in ODI on his comeback in 2004 VB series and 80 plus in those days was unheard off. He had one real off day against BD and anyone can have that. Anyone can bowl beamers under pressure, any fast bowler. Even the best have bowled them. It does not make him poor. Control will come as he will bowl more. He used to be very accurate before he got injured. I did not say Aaron bowled better than Shami. I said even Shami has been thrashed like this. Even yesterday, he went for 80 plus runs, 80 plus runs in Auckland, about 8 rpo in 2 matches at Hamilton. But where Aaron showed he can be better is at death and PP in Hamilton where he just 25 in 24 balls with a wicket of KW. There is a reason he has a good list A record.

It's just not me who thinks he does not has control so far, but Dhoni too dropped him and Virat too dropped him.He definitely has not given any reason apart from pace to warrant a selection in playing 11.I would not be surprised if Ishwar gets a debut versus Pakistan.

Even I think he has lacked control since his made his come back but I will still play because these are the kind of pacers I will back and play. This is the time we can do it. These ODIs are meaningless and we need to build a team of WC where we will need pacers. One bad game is not enough to discard someone of his ability.
Straight Drive Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 When did Dhoni drop him? and I do not think he was not played last match because he was poor against BD but because of the conditions not favoring pacers. He made ODI debut in Oct 2011.Did not play a series in 2012 as well as 2013.Was he injured for 2 years. If the conditions were not favoring pacers then why they didn't drop Shami or Bhuv. Why they dropped Varun.
rkt.india Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 He made ODI debut in Oct 2011.Did not play a series in 2012 as well as 2013.Was he injured for 2 years. If the conditions were not favoring pacers then why they didn't drop Shami or Bhuv. Why they dropped Varun. He got injured in December 2011 while playing last match against WI with back stress fracture in the spine, he did come back in IPL 2012, played a few matches but fracture recurred again and then he had to go through a surgery last year in Feb and then he made a come back through Ranji trophy where he id well for Jharkhand and then came back to Indian team on NZ tour. Before his stress fracture, he had played 4 matches taking 6 wickets at 26 with an ER of 5.7 and stress fractures have nothing to do with general fitness. They are stress related injuries which happen to every young genuine fast bowler at a young age. He made some changes to his bowling action after he recovered from surgery which is still settling in and the reason he has been losing control and it will take more bowling for him. I guess you did not watch him before he was injured. I can give you some youtube videos to do that. This was his debut match. putrevus Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 See Aaron's angle to cook that's what surprised me yesterday also nobody changed their angle to Sanga and gave him loli pops , who is telling them these things. They dropped one guy who had pace and could do some damage at death yes he got rocked in one match big it happens to best of them.
