Before the recent Australia tour, we had one of the best records of all overseas touring teams in Australia for about ten years Of course any team will go through a rebuilding phase when they lose some of the best cricketers ever in quick succession. But as long as we focus on improving as a team and not just defeating a particular opponent, we will do well The damage that just focusing on defeating a country can do is obvious Some of the heroes made just by defeating India are Kamran Akmal, Malik and a long list of others. What happens? they are made hero after couple of match against India and then they continue damaging the team for a long, long time. If not for Akmal, you might have won a historical test at Sydney to take just one example. This India focus has had long term consequences for the Pakistani team and will continue to do so We also had some heroes against Pakistan like Irfan Pathan, RP Singh, Harbhajjan. But those wins were taken as any other wins and they were immediately dropped from the team when they floundered Now this Afridi performance, just when he was on the verge of being dropped will again make him a hero and make sure he haunts your team and makes it lose in many more important series
