Raghav_12 Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 crashed into Indiana Ocean, no survivors, Malaysian prime minister said :((:(( http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/national_world&id=9477588
Roshanrocks Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I was expecting there to be no survivors... Now hopefully they find the black box n we find out what happened...
zen Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 A couple of interesting pieces of information: Malaysia disputes reprogramming Also over the weekend, Malaysian authorities said the last transmission from the missing aircraft's reporting system showed it heading to Beijing -- a revelation that appears to undercut the theory that someone reprogrammed the plane's flight path before the co-pilot signed off with air traffic controllers for the last time. That reduces, but doesn't rule out, suspicions about foul play in the cockpit. Last week, CNN and other news organizations, citing unnamed sources, reported that authorities believed someone had reprogrammed the aircraft's flight computer before the sign-off. Plane said to have flown low The plane flew as low as 12,000 feet at some point before it disappeared from radar, according to the official. It had reportedly been flying at a cruising altitude of 35,000 feet when contact was lost with air traffic control. The sharp turn seemed to be intentional, the official said, because executing it would have taken the Boeing 777 two minutes -- a time period during which the pilot or co-pilot could have sent an emergency signal if there had been a fire or other emergency on board. Authorities say the plane didn't send any emergency signals, though some analysts say it's still unclear whether the pilots tried but weren't able to communicate because of a catastrophic failure of the aircraft's systems. The official, who is not authorized to speak to the media, told CNN that the area the plane flew in after the turn is a heavily trafficked air corridor and that flying at 12,000 feet would have kept the jet well out of the way of that traffic. Roshanrocks Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 @rett what do u conclude with those quoted messages?
zen Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 @rett what do u conclude with those quoted messages? Because of the grey areas, the remote possibility that something could have gone wrong with the aircraft could gain momentum. Earlier the sole focus was on deliberate attempt, still the leading theory though Also MH066 makes an emergency landing at HK. This aircraft had some repair and maintenance work done. MH370 also had gone some repair and maintenance.
Haarkarjeetgaye Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I am hoping and praying it was a deliberate attempt and no accident
Gunner Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I am hoping and praying it was a deliberate attempt and no accident ???
gattaca Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 ??? Deliberate attempt means they are still alive accident means no one is alive. But I seriously doubt that.
zen Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Don't know if this has been posted before, but not a bad idea to revisit: Other planes that vanished The ‘stolen’ Boeing 727-233 In 2003, a Boeing 727-233, registered N844AA, began taxiing along the runway at Quatro de Fevereiro Airport in Luanda, Angola with no communication between the crew and the tower. The mid-sized plane manoeuvred towards the runway and took off without clearance. The jet then headed west over the Atlantic ocean with its lights off and its transponder not transmitting, and has never been seen since. On board were two men, neither of whom were believed to have been capable of flying the aircraft, [1]Air and Space magazine reports. A worldwide search by the FBI and CIA failed to locate either the plane or its crew and was eventually called off. To this day, the whole incident remains a mystery. Mid-air art heist? A cargo plane belonging to Varig Brazilian Airlines disappeared in January 1979 just 30 minutes after it took off from Narita International Airport in Tokyo. Adding to the mystery of the plane’s disappearance, on board were 153 paintings valued at more than $1.2 million (£700,000). Neither the plane, its crew or nor the paintings have been seen since. Flying Tiger Line Flight 739 One of the most enduring mysteries in aviation history is what happened to the Flying Tiger Line Flight 739 in 1932. The US military flight carrying 90 military personnel took off from Guam, in the western Pacific, but never arrived at its destination in the Philippines. The plane issued no distress call and no wreckage has ever been found. The crew of a Liberian tanker claimed to have seen an "intensely luminous" light in the sky, which some believe may have indicated the flight exploded in mid-air, but the US Civil Aeronautics board ruled it was "unable to determine the probable cause of the incident", Time Magazine reports. *** Cyber-hijack theory ----> by using cellphone or usb. Possibly through in-flight information system In 2008, Spanair flight 5022 crashed just after take-off, killing 154 people. According to the Spanish government’s Civil Aviation Accident and Incident Investigation Commission (CIAIAC), the disaster occurred because the central computer system used for monitoring technical problems in the aircraft was infected with a Trojan horse. The computer was supposed to emit an alarm signal on the monitor if it recorded three technical problems, and on the fateful take-off, it failed to alert the pilots. The plane attempted to take off with its flaps and slats retracted and no audible alarm sounded due to failure of the systems delivering power to the take-off warning system, following two earlier events that were not reported by the automated system. The malware could have entered the systems in several ways, for example, by third party devices or through remote VPN connection. PS Researcher hacks aircraft controls with Android smartphone Teso's attack code, dubbed SIMON, along with an Android app called PlaneSploit, can take full control of flight systems and the pilot's displays. The hacked aircraft could even be controlled using a smartphone's accelerometer to vary its course and speed by moving the handset about. "You can use this system to modify approximately everything related to the navigation of the plane," Teso told Forbes. "That includes a lot of nasty things." Teso was also able to use flaws in ACARS to insert code into a virtual aircraft's Flight Management System. By running the code between the aircraft's computer unit and the pilot's display he was able to take control of what the aircrew would be seeing in the cockpit and change the direction, altitude, and speed of the compromised craft. 20 passengers worked for electronic warefare and military radar firm Interesting read, however Teso has debunked the ciber hijack theory for MH370 *** I don't know if it was confirmed that the debris belonged to MH370. It appears as if Malaysia wants to wrap this up based on the data from Inmarsat. In that case, the plane may never be found. Best chance is if the ping from the blackbox is picked up Link

Haarkarjeetgaye Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Deliberate attempt means they are still alive accident means no one is alive. But I seriously doubt that. the plane may have still crashed and all lives lost. I cant accept that just by any freak accident this flight faced such a hostile disappearance. hijacking/deliberate attemt gives a reason to this.
zen Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Apart from finding the plane, managing relationship with the families of those who were on the plane will be a key for Malaysia. At the moments, things don't look good: Malaysia killed our loved ones, Chinese relatives say Without-plane-wreckage-doubts-linger-over-mh370s-indian-ocean-crash For many, the lack of solid proof ― such as plane wreckage ― still means that the Boeing 777 aircraft ferrying 239 people could have landed somewhere safely and is merely awaiting rescue from search teams. On UK's The Telegraph website, a man commented on the daily's article on how the aircraft was tracked to the Indian Ocean, saying: “Uhm, they haven't found anything yet, but they speculate based on this new data that the plane went that way, but there is no actual proof that it really did.... Seems like a coverup to me. Malaysia seems to have taken its decision based on the data by Inmarsat which is very confident about its findings: According to Chris McLaughlin, senior vice president of external affairs at Inmarsat, there is no doubt that MH370 had taken the southern route to the Indian Ocean and there, it ran out of fuel and ended its nearly eight-hour journey. Speaking on UK's Sky News last night, McLaughlin said Inmarsat's scientists used the “doppler effect†to identify the plane's track marks, which is by studying the change in frequency between the aircraft and the satellite as each one move away from one another. “And they tested off against a number of other aircraft... known flights... and come to the conclusion that only the southern route is possible,†he said. McLaughlin said the matching patterns between the flight path and Inmarsat's satellite data gave a “very, very good fit†to indicate that flight MH370 had been the aircraft that went down in the Indian Ocean.
Roshanrocks Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 If we assume nothing ill-intentioned happened then I guess things happened this way :hmmm: *something/everything malfunctioned on the flight which turned all the communication, and navigation systems off... * The pilots were virtually blind (plus it was night)and decided to go back turning left, since the navigation/communication systems were not functioning their turn wasnt directed well... *They decided to fly low to avoid other planes, plus manually search for airport.. *passengers/crew were asleep..so didnt suspect anything/were not informed..... *they took a few turns hoping to find land/airport...might have sighted land, but guessed wrong as to where they were... *Things got worse, somehow everyone lost consciousness, the plane just drifted.... lost fuel and crashed...

That's plausible. However, the investigators should re-examine the background of the passengers. There would be little to suspect in their background unless the investigators expect a known criminal (a clear red flag) to board the plane and make the investigation easier for them. Investigator need to look deeper Let's look at the possible reasons for the crash: a) Pilot committed suicide. It is hard to imagine that someone would want to take over 200 people with him. Also much easier to dive in to the South China Sea .... However this is a convenient option for the investigators to close the case quickly b) Plane malfunctioned. Plausible. However no distress call or an attempt to glide and land. The chances of the plane traveling like a ghost plane till the fuel runs out are less ....This option would mean a lot of questions for Boeing, MAS, .... c) Hijacking. Say someone takes control of the cockpit. The disappearance is ideally timed at the point of handover by Malaysia ATC to Vietnam ATC. The pilots are likely to do what they did under the threat and to save the passengers. Something goes terrible wrong, pilots fly the plane towards the ocean to avoid serious damages. Since this is a panic situation, the pilots would not be thinking clearly Reminds me of the incidences below: United 93 The hijackers breached the aircraft's cockpit and overpowered the flight crew approximately 46 minutes after takeoff. Ziad Jarrah, a trained pilot, then took control of the aircraft and diverted it back toward the east coast of the United States in the direction of Washington, D.C. Although the specific target is not known, it is believed that the hijackers were heading for either the White House or the Capitol Building.[1] IC 814 The aircraft was hijacked by gunmen shortly after it entered Indian airspace at about 17:30 IST. Hijackers ordered the aircraft to be flown to several locations. After touching down in Amritsar, Lahore and Dubai, the hijackers finally forced the aircraft to land in Kandahar, Afghanistan, which at the time was controlled by the Taliban. The hijackers released 27 of 176 passengers in Dubai but fatally stabbed one and wounded several others. India's lack of recognition of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan complicated negotiations between Indian authorities and the hijackers. Taliban moved its well-armed fighters near the hijacked aircraft in an attempt to prevent Indian special forces from storming the aircraft. The motive for the hijacking appears to have been to secure the release of Islamist figures held in prison in India. The hostage crisis lasted for seven days and ended after India agreed to release three militants — Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh and Maulana Masood Azhar. These militants have since been implicated in other terrorist actions, such as 9/11 , the kidnap and murder of Daniel Pearl and Mumbai terror attacks.
Raghav_12 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 the plane may have still crashed and all lives lost. I cant accept that just by any freak accident this flight faced such a hostile disappearance. hijacking/deliberate attemt gives a reason to this. Exactly my thoughts. Anybody would feel relatively safer on a craft knowing that mh 370 was highjacked or compromised than knowing it was a freakish accident. Worst would be not knowing what happened to plane.
black_death Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 So the previous evidence that Aircraft flew for 4 hours after the last contact still valid or now has been swept under the carpet by Malaysia? Frankly i can think of no reason as to why the aricraft will fly to south indian ocean near to Australia.
