It hass been more than 4 months since i quit smoking.I have been experiencing withdrawl symptoms till now.I still cough a lot.Cough after quit smoking can last for more than 6 months months. It is normal as inactive cilia(hair like structures) in trachea(windpipe) become active after quit smoking and start to push tar out of trachea. It varies from person to person tht how much time this self healing process of lungs will take.Sucking on jaggery might ease this cough.Push-ups and flat bench presses help a lot with breathing problems. Or try yoga breathing exercises. For good sleep glass of hot milk 30 mins before bed is excellent.

12 years of a lot a smoking and then I got married and basically stopped. I did smoke here and there chup chup ke for sometime but never tried to argue or convince wife as I knew that once I am allowed to smoke again (officially), I will be back to pack a day. Now its been 7 years since I got married and quit smoking and now I got myself a Blu cigarette, I keep it at home and once a week I take 2-3 puffs when kids are asleep. I dont want to smoke but the idea of smoking relaxes me. One advise, you would end up walking to the shop and buying a pack again, you will smoke and wont enjoy it, it will taste horrible. You need to use that moment and throw away the pack. I dont even remember how many times I bought a pack, smoked 1 and threw the pack away and it costs 8-9 bucks a pack here and in Aus it was 13 bucks a pack. Also, almost everybody smokes for habit, addiction of nicotine is almost goes in 3-4 days but what people struggle with is the habit. Find an alternative and make a plan. Good luck

@ Baasir, it is normal to gain weight after u quit, as cigarette smoking suppresses appetite and now ur appetite suddenly grows. It will be normal with time. Drink more water.

It takes 20-30 mins for the brain to realize that stomach is full. This is much faster if there is a sugar rush hence a lot of people crave for desert as they don't feel full, smoking also has a similar affect and that's why after you think u have had enough and if u smoke or eat sweet, you'll feel full. People gain weight upon quitting smoke due to the same reason. The solution is pretty simple, just have a small glass of juice after meals. Don't drink too much juice as it's also mostly sugar but 2-3 sips should do the trick.
