I don't have the time to post anywhere except here so don't know whom are you referring to, so cannot make a comment on the comparison. May be that person is like me, may be it's your perception that I am like him/her :cantstop: And I have nothing against Sachin winning this one though. But a topic on best of a generation will have different opinions considering all the greats that the game has seen! .... For e.g. when Wisdon came out w/ the list of top 100 innings, it did not have Sachin's inning(s) on the list or may the 100 against Pak but probably way down. I am sure people would have discussed how the innings were judged (I recall at that time, I was not totally convinced w/ the list as well) .... Note -There is no general consensus to the extent what many Sachin (hardliners?) fans would like to believe :winky:

Why is it hard to see this.....This is impact on the last 20 years right from 94-2014 that these individuals had Well let's start with ODI's-SRT-Let us consider WC to be the pinnacle for ODI cricket.... India reached a SF,a Final and Won a Cup....Who was the architect of that,the top run scorer in this period....also India went from a mediocre and poor ODI side to a world champion,The No1 ODI side.Yes the rise of some great players also contributed but same can be attributed to Warne and Kallis. Warne-WC Finalist 96 and Winner 99...From a very strong ODI side,he was a part of their rise as an invincible squad..... Australia became the greatest ODI side in the last 20 years without a doubt but from a platform of already having a strong side....Also Warne wasn't their ODI MVP but let us say he was one of them. Kallis-Scored tons of runs....S.A decimated weaker sides in bilateral series but what was his contribution in the big tourneys?S.A's performancein WC's is already legendary so lets not even go there. Since we got the easier topic out of the way,let us focus on Tests. Tendulkar-Once again part of a team that was kings on home soil but weak abroad but by the end of his career(what should have been his swan song 2011),we were No1,beating AUS,Running S.A close,things we didn't even imagine in 1994 which is the basis for the award......A team that was always in the middle was suddenly one of the strongest Test teams in the world on all surfaces....8-0 was a blot most definitely but the very fact that it coincided with his spiral tells you the impact he had. Warne- Was always part of the No 1,sometimes No 2 side in the early part of 90's and was part of the team that became almost invincible,So great impact and this is where I rate him after SRT but going from a platform of being No1 to the levels they have acheived is relatively easier. Kallis-Most of his career was part of the No2 side in the world....First Aussies,then India.....His impact will be never known....while a great player,S.A was doing incredible things in tests due to it's bowling....Kallis never took S.A to the next level...Yes his presence was invaluable to his team due to which they were consistent but never took it to the next level like they should have.

How was India a poor odi side b4 Sachin. they won in 1983 and again in 1985.They were fav in 1987 semis.

What is point of longevity if you are not performing, Sachin did jack after world cup in 2011 and he was playing on as if performance matters nothing as long as he was enjoying the game. This notion that Sachin did not win more because he was on bad team is bunch of baloney, Did anyone stop Sachin from hitting two centuries in the same test or scoring more than 500 runs in 3 test series.

debatable but a strong case......except the without helmet part how about adding peoples expectations, adaptability across formats and RESULTS WC winner,Finalist,S.Finailst,Top run getter in 2 formats,NO 1 test team and not power hungry,played with 2 of the most egoistical captains and 1 corrupt captain still had his integrity intact while working towards Indian crickets progress BAM!
