If was not subjective and there are clear guidelines to establish ownership, why not follow that instead of quizzing witnesses for the same? In fact lying under oath is probably worse than being corrupt, but one doesn't equate to the other.

He is a witness not a suspect and was brought in for deposition. He cannot be prosecuted unless there is a separate case for him. Most posters are not realizing that.

Well the corrupt conduct could have extended to personal involvement in betting or fixing which i trust dhoni not to be involved in. Is that hard to comprehend?

As long as Dhoni is not directly involved in Matchfixing he will be let go,the only issue is he may not be allowed to leave overseas till the case is resolved(May not be a bad thing afterall :--D ) I will tell you a live incident-One of the people from my family was appointed as the board of director by a govt.financial institution to a couple of companies which later wound up due to securities fraud....They have a non-bailable warrant issued against them if they skipped court date despite the judge agreeing(unofficially) they are just a victim of circumstance and have nothing to do with the scam per se.There are atleast 2-3 such people who have these summons and these are honest,hardworking middleclass govt.employees I am talking about.They are just summoned for being on the company B-O-D list,can u imagine Dhoni's position in comparison to that? So either ways Dhonis days as a captain are over wether he was plain stupid or innocent or guilty

Well, you don't need a separate case for lying under oath in one. The same judge can throw you in jail for perjuring yourself. Most posters here are just happy that Dhoni is being punished for being allowed to continue as captain despite going 0-9. :winky:

That is all very subjective, involved in cricketing affairs or not. Relevant questions are these: 1. Does he own any or part of the franchise to declare him an owner? 2. Did he have any official contract/employment letter which made him an employee/part of management? 3. Was he paid by the them? 4. Was he just volunteering and making himself available everywhere whenever he felt like it?

Secondly if Dhoni was under duress he should come forward and say so. There may not be enough evidence to land him in trouble in this case but as a cricket fan I can't trust him now. I hope that he's not involved in any corruption as it will be a big blow to Indian cricket in general.
