Can we take IPL performances as a benchmark for T20 selection?

Can we take IPL performances as a benchmark for T20 selection?? I am sure, it makes sense to do so...... we have seen Mishra doing well in T20......who has been doing same job in IPL from last few seasons?/ If above statement is true.....then there are lot of bowlers who are ahead of Shami....likes of bumrah, Rahul shukla and others.... Also, we haven't seen jadeja doing well for chennai superkings in last couple of seasons.....his style of bowling is not suited for T20's.....it's proven in earlier T20 tournaments as well.....i know, he has improved but not enough to make an impact in the smaller version of the game.......He is a very important players for us in ODI's but selectors and captain should distinguish between formats.... Nadeem could be a very good T20 left-arm orthodox bowlers and doing pretty wellin IPl as well....

for sure.. same format, similar players. more ipl games than there are t20is. You have to take into account opposition and pitches but since wt20s played in Bangla and then India next, it is the perfect benchmark. Too bad india doesnt use it! Umesh was 3rd highest wicket taker in ipl 2012 behind malinga and morne morkel! What happened? Balaji, zaheer and dinda got picked! It shouldnt be the only benchmark; take into account domestic t20s too.

Yuvraj hardly clicked in the IPL :hmmm: Don't expect him to either. Also it depends on how a batsman score runs. If he bullies his way in IPL by hitting weak trundlers then we have to view it with caution.

You cannot pick batsmen based on IPL because of a lot of poor bowlers, but bowlers you can because a lot of good batsmen and flat tracks.

He played one day, not T20. He got success in IPL T20. Didn't he? Other than that, it was only one season for him. He does not have a great record even in domestic one days. Chosen in wrong formats too early. He is still only young, can improve. Nothing is 100% guaranteed. Guys like Dekock and Kusal Parera looked clueless in IPL, but did well for their respective teams. But logically because of a lot of poor domestic bowlers, batting records in IPL become a bit irrelevant with only 1-2 good bowlers then bowling records because you at least have 4-5 good batsmen in every team.

but IPL should not be criteria for odi selection..Uthappa always plays well in list A odi games and plays IPL also like odi match...so he is best for odi not t20.
