Utalk Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I understand your frustration but for this debacle selectors and MSD should be blamed not Yuvi. This smacked of sentimental pick that has come back to haunt Ind. Man showed great character and courage to come back from his illness. But professional sport and emotions should never be mixed. This man has given Ind great service in LOIs playing key role in winning two world titles. You can tell man is not the same physically and mentally. He is getting undeserved stick. tatters Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Exactly what I said. India are too sentimental and don't know what qualities to value in cricketers.
South_Paw Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Ofcourse they are to be blamed. But they alone would have been blamed if at all Yuvraj had gone after facing 2 or 3 balls. Even after completely knowing that he can't even rotate the strike, if a player stands there, Yuvraj has snatched the no.1 place for getting blamed from Dhoni and selectors.
SLICKR392 Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Yuvraj was doing well in T20s. The selection was surely not based on reputation.
randomGuy Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Many members esp.the old timers on icf can they do a vastly better job than our current selectors. Everybody knew yuvi should not be anywhere close to the squad.
deathmonger Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 True. He didn't really have a choice. He didn't even do hit wicket coz he still believed (mistakenly) he could change the match.
Utalk Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 True. He didn't really have a choice. He didn't even do hit wicket coz he still believed (mistakenly) he could change the match. Exactly. No professional player would throw in the towel and lose his wicket on purpose. Not sending Raina at 4 was criminal. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
JourneyMan Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Guys, the issue wasn't Yuvi's presence in the team (this was a smaller issue, but not the game-changer today). It wasn't EVEN that he was sent in at the 11th over (although Raina or MSD himself would have been better choices for such an important game). What lost us the game was that this guy decided to play front foot defence at a time when we needed to post a decent total to win a WC final. Unforgivable.
Sachin=GOD Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Nopes. We will only blame one man and ask for him to retire and abuse him on twitter :protest:
game_changerr Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 he could have himself sacrificed his wicket (by stumping or caught any)but that fatraj carried on....wonder who gave him 14 crores in ipl money....enough of 'he won us two world titles'',,,,?,he didnt do any ehsaan ....as a country player u r expected to win matches....but who cares.....there are enough fools who will forget evrything once trash ipl will start...u can thrash lanka 5-0 in some meaningless bilateral series,it doesnt matter, they won the match when it mattered
SLICKR392 Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Nopes. We will only blame one man and ask for him to retire and abuse him on twitter :protest: That's an acceptable thing to do. Stop making it a big deal! :beee:

saneindian Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Dhoni yes but selectors? He has been our best T20 player, even post his illness, his T20 performance was quite good. There was no way selectors were not going to pick him in the squad. So can't really blame the selectors. Blame lies solely with Dhoni for not sending Raina ahead of him. Dont think Yuvi could have been benched in such a big game either should have baated only in the end overs though given his struggles against spinners in the tournament barring one match.
Pagalpanti Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Run out would have been perfect in an effort to get Kohli on strike. Its tricky, what if Kohli had got run out. He did come down the track but blocked a lot of balls
game_changerr Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 @slickr....how he was in good form in t20(u wrote somewhere)....tha inning( ajmal assault) happnd in dec 2012.....then 70's against c team of australiA (cnt remember yhe name of single bowler)in prev year......

We din't play many T20s Int. He was good in about 3-4 T20s out of the 5 we played post 2012 WT20.
panther Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 There's always one thik pak fan who has to consolidate the Indians.
