First New Zealand. Now this. He is not getting proper, substantial support. People around him make 20s, 30s and get out. They don't carry on. Nobody comes forward and shoulders responsibility. Dhawan's form did not even last for 2 series. Once his form is gone Kohli is on his own. We need more match winners not just Kohli. Dhoni can do some cover up in one dayers. Overall that is not enough. What after Dhoni? It will be a free fall otherwise.

Even Kohli was making that error in Tests; not building on starts, but now he seems to have the right focus to continue to a hundred. I think an obvious solution to this problem for ODIs would be to play Pujara at no.3, and let Kohli come in at no.4. It's important that those two continue to practice building long partnerships. Of course I'm not talking about Twenty20 but the other formats. I don't think we should think too much about twenty20 stuff.

only one of pujara,rahane can be accomodated in ODIs....Rahane has played arnd 30 ODI matches and averages just 25 @ S/R of 74...3/5 50s came against minnows like afg,zim,ban. Its high time we drop him.

we have to bear in mind that the wc is in aus so we need proper, solid batsmen to occupy the top 4 spots.dhawan can do okay ,i have no trust in nohit to carry the bat through the innings so basically if kohli gets out early,we are fecked that is why pujara is a must in the odi set up.i think he'll play the odis in england

The form of our new look players is not as good as that of our past players. Likes of Sehwag, Gauti,Sachin,VVS, Rahul stayed in form for years and years. The form of most of these new look players seem to last for an year and then it starts to go South.

Rohit has technical issues which he needs to sort. Like Rahul he does falls on to the leg side early in the innings. However, it can be argued that many subcontinental players have that weakness. I always thought temperament was an issue with Rohit, but after the 200 in ODI and one ton in tests i think he has temporarily resolved that weakness which he even showed while playing for Mumbai. Does anyone remembers how he played a good knock and then tried to smack a wrong one over long on and got caught, only for Mumbai to lose from a very commanding position. There have been many such instances in the past in all levels he played. Him being a good fielder counts a lot as Dhoni is someone who values fielding skills very much.he has had a relatively good season but he needs to show consistency. We all saw what happened to him after the Australia series. His form did not even last for one year iirc. Also, he is just too arrogant. I remember he was at MCA headquarters at BKC doing batting practice against some bowlers. One bowler hit his batting pad and Rohit started yelling at the bowler who hit his pad. he got angry because he could not digest the fact that a local bowler beat his bat and hit him on his batting pads. Someone with less ego would have thought about how to flick it well and improving his game in that nets session rather than yelling at the local club bowlers who are trying to help these international players. The problem with Rohit is that he had two coaches in youth. My clubmate was Rohit's coach at club level. The problem started when Rohit got selected in MCA squad. He started missing local club nets and attending the MCA nets. The local club coach knew all the strengths and weakness of Rohit but the problem was that Rohit attended MCA nets more for obvious reasons.That technical deficiency is still seen in Rohits game even after more than a decade has passed.His flaws and temperament still are suspect since long. Consistency is the key to step a level higher than other batters.He currently lacks it.I have heard many of my clubmates say that Rohit is talented but i always say that every cricketer has talent.Talent has to be backed up with temperament, patience, shot selection,determination,fitness and being reasonably humble after having a good couple of years at international level.We will see his weakness probably on this tour of England as well.Let us see how he handles the moving ball.The movement in England will be much tougher to tackle than what we have seen in SouthAfrica and NewZealand.I for one would not be surprised if his form fluctuates as per the conditions he plays in.
