ThePhenomenal1 Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Lankan bowlers bowled on tracks that assisted them. Karthik is talking about how to bowl in wickets without much assistance. Rather than pitching it at good length and varying your lines Ashwin will stick to this good old around the wicket' date=' defensive leg stump ploy.[/quote'] dont forget the pause and the easy singles.
ThePhenomenal1 Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Guys like ishant also run out of steam and lead to opponents making massive scores like mcullum 300. need guys like pankaj who can toil all day and get some reward
Lord Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 now all we need is Tahir to teach how to bowl based on his county cricket success
MCcricket Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 :giggle::giggle:now all we need is Tahir to teach how to bowl based on his county cricket success
youngindia Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 4 bowlers not enough to take 20 for us who told you 5 bowlers can take more wickets than 4 bowlers? for an attack to be more penetrative, there shud be increase in quality..quantity does not help one bit at all its a figment of someone's imagination.past experience has shown it to be blatantly false and everytime an overseas series comes ,we have the same nonsense repeated again. The question of taking 20 wickets does not arise till the batting performs..7 batsmen is the minimum in most nonasian conditions
Vilander Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Trent bridge pitch flat dry belter..:two_thumbs_up: god we are pucked

So that claim doesn't work if yoour 5 bowlers include 2 spinners, one of which is Jadeja, overseas
youngindia Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Didn't we use 2 spinners instead of 4 seamers in the past series? So that claim doesn't work if yoour 5 bowlers include 2 spinners' date=' one of which is Jadeja, overseas[/quote'] does not matter.i am talking about the quality...you go back six years or even twenty years I don't have such a short attention span..i never once recall five bowlers being penetrative than four bowlers in thirty years of watching cricket...its one of those bad shallow minded ideas passed by some indian cricketers...all rounders is another of those myths.... sa and Pakistan often had plenty of allroudners and even six bowlers but they never became undispuited champs or managed to displace allrounder less Australia or west indies our bowling attack is such that we have one pace bowler averaging 29-31(kapil,srinath,zaheer) and rest having averages of 35+...we have problem even finding a decent second bowler! the answer is to have atleast three bowlers averaging under 31 in the top 4 in the conditions. as long this does not happen, what is the point. ideas like five bowlers are garbage in,garbage out. will do nothing to alleviate the problem long term.
Number Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I have no idea how can people think of going without 6 specialist batsmen in England where Dhoni or any all rounder from the current squad will be a walking wicket. Our best chance to win is by piling runs and putting England under pressure. An extra bowler wont make much difference imo.
Pagalpanti Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I have no idea how can people think of going without 6 specialist batsmen in England How about losing 10 out of last 12 tests with that combination?
youngindia Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 How about losing 10 out of last 12 tests with that combination? this is misdiagnosis. "combination" was never the problem.. 8 of those tests are largely irrelevant now since the team make up has changed almost totally and those tests were lost due to poor form of the then key players and the bowling being worse. In the last four tests , what is the issue? the new batmen have not done too badly but can do better..rohit has to improve ...bowlers have to be a lot penetrative. issues like combination are only a subcategory under these main issues.
Number Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 @Pagalpanti We are playing with that combination since last 13-14 years and have been reasonably successful. The reason for losing so many test matches was poor captaincy and wrong playing XI selections.

Won in Eng, NZ and drew in SA and Aus with the same bowlers
youngindia Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 and with the same bowlers Won in Eng,- after 1986 won in NZ- after 1967 drew in SA -for the very first time after plenty of embarassments in aus- one drawn series in 33 years and plenty of losses. till 2002, there was almost a 16 yr gap in a win outside the subcontinent that level was achieved after plenty of failures and almost a decade of team building since 1996... we collapsed even against zim in 1998 chasing 231. we collapsed against zim in 2001 when we were 130 ahead and around 7 wickets remaining. after a test win in WI in 2002,they slowly built to a level where they were more competitive overseas. our bowlers were largely crap even during this period.in bowler friendly conditions, they were able to drive home the advantage from time to time. we are basically a batting side..we cannot win by our bowling
shortbread Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 ........ we are basically a batting side..we cannot win by our bowling We have always been a predominantly bowling side but we always had bowlers we could turn to in times of trouble. Kapil, Srinath, Kumble, Zaheer........guys whom rest of the bowling unit gelled around, guys who put their arms up when the captain wanted a breakthrough!! Now our bowling unit is skint when it comes to fighters.
CG Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 They were not crap during the period. From 2007 when Zak returned we had sreesanth, ishant, r.p Singh all doing well as a group. Even in Indian conditions fast bowling won us matches. But ishant, sree did not improve.
