maniac Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I kind of relate to this....I have never faced direct racism from white people...got some dirty looks once or twice .. that's about it but I have faced racist rant from a homeless black guy once lol.. This was during the time of Obama's first oath ceremony....there was this black guy selling hope armbands ....I refused to buy one and lol he went on a tirade....all I could do was try to get the f outta there lol

Here in UK, the British born people with Indian origin are extremely racist towards Indian expats. I have noticed plenty of times they have some sort of negative way of looking at Indian expats. British Asians from childhood have heard stories how India is backward, underdeveloped as a nation. They probably heard from their parents about how poor a country India is and how lucky they are to born in a developed nation. Media also plays a massive role in creating mindset. In BBC, you will find most serials they show about India , they only go to the *****iest of places for their coverage. Due to telecasts like this people perceive India as a whole is a backward nation. What if Sony TV goes to a remote village in Wales and telecast that in India? Some of these British Asians might never been to India, so obviously they do not know how much India has developed as a nation and in few years we will overtake Britain.So they still lives in the perception created for them from external sources and they are still living with it. Racism is a perception..nothing else.

Racism is a perception..nothing else. This is true for the American born Indians and immigrant Indians too. If you go to college in the US, it is quite noticiable that these two groups do not associate with each other much. The FOB's and the ABCD's like to throw their separate parties. At my school, there are two groups - Tiranga (immigrants) and ISA (American Born). This is also true outside of the college scene. The American born Indians often look down on the immigrants and feel that immigrants cater them a bad image. It's nothing new.
