Rohit bemoans Zaheer injury After five successive defeats this season, Mumbai Indians finally ended their streak with a five-wicket win against Kings XI Punjab on Saturday. However, the much-needed victory came at a cost, as Mumbai lost their strike bowler Zaheer Khan to a muscle strain and will have to do without the seamer's services for the crucial clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday. "Zaheer will surely be missed," Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai captain wrote in his column for Daily News and Analysis. "His injury doesn't look too good at this stage and it's a terrible blow for us as he was consistently getting us those crucial early breakthroughs." Mumbai's head coach John Wright had earlier confirmed that Zaheer had strained his left latissinus dorsi muscle, and that he would be undergoing a "thorough medical assessment".

just like you havent learn to live with the fact that Zaheer and Ishant are our opening bowlers for years to come

Oh come on. Ishant will be there he did good in NZ. But not zaheer.

History yes. But recent performance was good.
But that is his mo he flukes some wicket to get selected & does absolutely nothing . He has single handedly fecked us. He doesn't even work on his bowling & thinks he the spearheaded. He needs to be dropped from all formats for ever until he improves.

The guy had his best and the worst performance of career in the same test match. I call that fluke. He should be nowhere near the team. But with Dhoni as captain I expect both Zaheer and Ishant to play.

ZK is one of the top bowlers India has produced. He should announce his retirement (right now) with grace, and we can give him a celebratory send off.

In another blow to Mumbai Indians' campaign in IPL-7, pace spearhead Zaheer Khan has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament, according to skipper Rohit Sharma. Zaheer, who suffered a severe side strain after bowling just three deliveries of his final over in Mumbai's last game against Kings XI Punjab at Wankhede, has scalped five wickets in six games. "Zaheer will miss the remainder of the IPL season," Rohit said just before the toss in his side's match against Royal Challengers Bangalore here.

His injury could have a huge repercussion on the bowling unit selection for England tour. Ishant due to his experience, will be a certainty now. Bhuvi will get the new ball alongside Shami. Ishwar Pandey should retain his spot and most likely make a debut in England tests at some stage. Aaron's bowling form should give him an upper hand too, For the 6th seamers, will the selectors look for another left arm seamer or go with the right arm swing bowlers like Dhawal Kulkarni?

Why the heck do we have Ishant in the team? I would rather have a few rookies than tried and tested failures.
Had Bowled three very good innings in NZ before losing it completely in the last innings. Doubt if the selectors and team management will go to England with almost a rookie attack .

its probably a blessing. Zaheer khan has been a great servant for Indian cricket and i hope he gets a benefit match for mumbai ranji and india. My pacers tests, ranked as per my opinion (1) Shami (2) Bhuvi (3) Umesh (4) Ishwar (5) Dhawal Kulkarni but in reality we will mostly go in now with Bhuvi Shami and ofcourse Ishant..... Its probably between Ishwar and Dhaval for the final slot.

My 5th pacer will be Aaron. Bowling really well at the moment and deserve a chance in test team.
