There is difference between getting set and hitting big and hitting big from very start This difference is the reason he is average in t20 while in Odis he gradually starts hitting and no bowler is spared at end
When Dhoni was new he used to "hit big from the very start"

Hen he was new people did not know where to bowl and even then he used to get set There are few innings here and there but he normally gets in plays at strike rate of 80 and then hits big . Also my earlier point people did not know at start where to bowl to him Pakistanis tried short stuff and disappeared and Yorkers went for runs and spinners were never a problem but now they know if they just full full out side off he finds it hard and same with balls on off stump

Exactly! bowlers will figure out Maxwell too. Before Dhoni, yorker was an unplayable delivery... nowadays batsmen have learned to play yorkers.. bowlers have adapted. Today, Maxwell can play every shot in the book and is very difficult to bowl to. Tomorrow, bowlers will figure him out.

Tomorrow, bowlers will figure him out.[/quote'] Maxwell is like abdv or Kohli he has too many shots you cannot tie him up Figuring him out will be hard because unlike the perception he is very gifted cricketer and slogs because this format and his role demands He told miller yesterday ok,I am going ..before starting hitting ashwin and even his hitting has lots of thinking he only hits the ball in air where there is gap ..his huge range of shots allow it He is let's say cricketer of t20 generation while dhoni was not ...another stat which proves what iam saying is strike rate of dhoni in t20 I even from start it has been around 110 only marginally increased now ...he is just not good enough to come out and str hitting big unless you bowl him really bad balls

Our Raina is also very hard to stop unless pitch has bounce and you are Johnson ..he is some one who can come out and hit big in weird areas and you cannot stop him in subcontinent Maxwell seems to have trouble with Yorkers so probably reverse swinging Yorkers will get him but they are rare these days

Maxwell ABCD Kohli are all top order batsmen and Dhoni is a finisher . When it comes to death overs hitting and finishing of chases Dhoni is still much better than these Maxwells and DW Villiers .

His post match comments were ridiculous. From CI: If we had got off to a great start, we could have gone for it. But we lost Smith and Jadeja was our final throw of the die but when he fell, we decided to just play it out In fact FAF top scored for CSK with 52 @ SR 208. And Dhoni had underestimated FAF. Also, what confidence it gives to other CSK batters like Mithun Manhas. A negative mindset set in minds of another Indian young uncapped player. Clearly by those comments Dhoni did not think even he could win it once two CSK batters (Smith and Jaddu) were out. Defeats are bound to happen in this game, but to surrender to opposition is certainly not what a captain should be doing.

It was just common sense . Targets like 230 are impossible once get cant get a great start which we didn't get. The only reason Faf had good stats is becoz he spent some time in the middle. Only then he started hitting .By that time RR was nearly 20 . Even Maxwell and Miller needed time yesterday before slogging . We probably have the best cricketing mind in the last 30 years as our coach so doubt its unilateral decision from Dhoni

Hat is not true He is better at finishing games but not hitting

When Dhoni spends time in the middle there is no one better at scoring in death overs than Dhoni.

Come on he is good at finishing games but he has not won big chases without help of Raina,Kohli, gambhir etc they are the ones who hit big while dhoni stays till end to finish games His beauty is he does not chokes like abdv he will always chase down 10 runs in last over but he is no where close to these guys when it comes to hitting Dhoni will chase 70 or 75 runs in last 10 overs every time but to chase bigger totals you need strikers like Raina,Kohli in India who can chase much bigger targets ... He is no where near best when it comes to hitting he is just the best finisher same way bevan was best finisher but he was not biggest striker ...

That's what I meant as well. He isn't great at scoring big in middle overs like Kohli ABDv or maxwell but in the death overs (batting 1st or 2nd ) he is lethal . Only Kohli can match his hitting in death over consistently

Man he is not biggest hitter in death is just coolest guy who does not chokes Abdv will not even score 5 in last over and lose match :cantstop:...what you are comparing is ability to finish not ability to hit If we need 100 from last 10 we will see Raina and in past yuvi go bonkers not dhoni ...

From what he speaks it seems that he is the most negative mindset captain. You have to have faith in players especially when you have selected them in playing 11. If you don't have faith in them then don't select them in team.

I have always found it incredibly funny whenever the fans include Dhoni among the Big Hitters in the game . Its good to see that he is finally being exposed . Dhoni is not even half as good as a Yuvraj or a Raina who are two of the best T20 players from India yet is hyped as if hes the Indian version of a Gayle , Pollard and Maxwell. Cant believe that this rubbish player is among the highest paid in IPL.
He is certainly one of the biggest hitter around but able to hit big does not mean you can bat an SR of 150 plus in a T20 from word go. Even Ganguly was a big hitter but his SR in ODIs was still 73. He does not have the mindset and range of shots, also he takes time to settle in. He changed his style since he became captain. Remember several of his innings before he was captain, he used to go all out attack straight away but that has changed with time. Now his mindset is very negative and defensive. Even when captaining Indian team in test matches and ODIs, he first looks to stop runs rather than taking wickets. His mindset shows in his batting too.

I feel Dhoni is responsible for turning Ashwin in to a very negative bowler in all formats. I know he is no Ajmal, but Ashwin definitely was much better wicket taking bowler before. Now he is given a predominantly leg side field, asked to bowl on leg stump. No wonder we are seeing leg side wides and big tonks off his bowling in the arc between deep mid wicket and long on.

I was just kidding. :two_thumbs_up:

If there are 20 or 30 runs to win then Dhoni will promote himself. Hit the winning runs and take credit for finishing the game. If the runs required are more, he will hide behind other batsmen and even tailenders. Fattu :hehe:
