What did bhuvi do in SA & NZ in helpful conditions.??

First overseas tour ever in SA and dropped after single match. Then NZ tour on pattas after that drop Most people can see learnings and improvement in a bowler. Some others are happy to take bowlers who have regressed

When you negate the swing by standing out the crease or leave everything outside off he cannot do much. He neither has the pace or the bounce to push them back. Neither he can reverse it so he will be useful for 1st 10 overs of the day then he would be dead weight.

Sure but do we have someone who has all these skills. If we don't we can select someone who has good new balls skills and ask them to improve.

Bhuvi experiment can only work if he is part of 4 pronged pace attack. Bowl initial 10 overs then bowl to restrict the opposition & give other pacers some rest. For now least give an opportunity to pacers who can actually develop into something good. The ones like umesh aaron suyal Bumrah Shami

I'd be selecting him, no doubt about it. He's not one of the best bowlers in the world though. He is better than Ishant and Zaheer Khan. That's all he needs to be selected. Unfortunately, Ishant will be retained.

Fair point. He can play the role which Hoggard played in the 2005 Ashes. Problem with indian pacers is that if you play 4, then it seems like an overkill but 3 get tired easily.

I think he is the definite choice after Shami.The support bowler should be selected from the likes of Pandey,Mohit Sharma,Sandeep Sharma,Aaron,Rishi Dhawan etc

Even 3 can work if you have a good spinners as a 4th bowler who can take wickets abroad but accepting 3 pacers to pick 20 wickets in a test is a huge ask. Same happened in NZ. It is not like our pacers did not get wickets, they did but 4th bowler was gone missing. If only 3 bowlers are doing bulk of the job, their effectiveness will eventually gone down. Look at what happened to SA at Wanderers when Morkel got injured or to Australia at Adelaide against SA when Pattinson got injured.

Bowling line-up for trent bridge is almost certain. It will be bhuvi, shami, ishant and jadeja. bhuvi and shami are the best 2 seam bowlers in india now. ishant deserves a place in test team based on his performance in last tour. ishant can be a good first change if conditions are seamer friendly which is expected in early season in england. only problem is with the 4th bowler. dhoni sees him as a containing option. that will work if the first 3 are exceptional bowlers. but our first 3 are average/above average kind of bowlers. so we cannot except them to take 20 wickets. 5th bowler is not an option for india in seamer frinedly conditions as we must go with 6 batsmen to have any chances of posting 300+. I think 4th bowlers wicket taking ability will decide the fortunes of india in this series.

Totally agree.

I hope Dhoni understands this simple fact. This is the reason we lost in NZ too. Our lead spinner Jadeja averaged 85 in tests. Our lead spinner Ashwin averaged 219 in ODIs. Our spinners have not been good enough to pick wickets overseas or given any semblance of belief that they can trouble batsman overseas if the pitch is not overly suiting them.
