Sachin=GOD Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Minimum 10% of total seats needed by 1 party to declare their leader as leader.of opposition.In history of India only once in 1984 did the Lok Sabha had no leader of opposition. Actually no. Last time it happened was 1969. But even if the largest opposition party falls to win 10% seats they will still be asked to name a leader of opposition -happened in Bihar in 2005. It will send an extremely bad signal if there if no leader of the opposition.

Detonator Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 DMK dont depend on brand though unlike ADMK which depends solely on the charisma of Jaya but DMK has strong internal leaders and party structure to survive.Their issue is subserving the likes of Balu Raja Kanimozhi etc DMK does have strong leaders, but most of them are as old as Karuna himself. Stalin is seen as a DMK's version of Jaya (but weak) by DMK's insiders. Also Stalin-Kanimozhi-Dayanidi-Raja nexus is infamous among people. TR Balu and A Raja both lost in this election becoz of this.
