Thats a nice move.. somehow our relations post US-nuclear deal has cooled off with Russia & its former satellites.. Need to revive that to form our own "string of pearls" around China
We all are in same boat. Russians treat us if not equal, then at par. With China emerging as new power, American/West arent interested in destabilizing India for next 15-20 years. So why not? Also, Make in India needs resources. Chinese already own African ones. \Germans wont build in Russia or no one will buy Russian ones. So why not use Russian resources to make in India.

India does not need a string of pearls as such. These countries South Korea Japan etc dont like china at all and are heavily expanding their military. What you need is an alliance. China needs string of pearls cause the likes of SL and Nepal and BD are in no position to even put up a fight. One fecking squadron and SL would be floored. they also need them because their oil from the middle east passes right across the Indian ocean. One country India needs to move on is Vietnam. But apart from them I think China is wary of South Korea and Japan. In the absense of nuclear weapons if South korea Japan and India all attacked China at once even the chinese leadership knows they will be in deep doo doo. Even they cannot fight on three fronts against three formidable enemies in a conventional war even if they rope in Pakistan and North korea. Not easy fighting battles thousands of miles apart. Russia as things stand will be neutral or lean towards india at best. they are heavily financially involved with china. The days of the soviet union sending an army to the border with china during the 1965 war are over....

Allthough above all is hypothetical but I think Chinese have enough firepower to simultaneously wardoff allmost all its neghbours except Russia. Whether they have military acumen and skill, Thats totally different thing. Saying that, they are more likely to go into war with Vietnam, South Korea and Japan then us. The thing stopping them is America and economic fallout.

Once again monsoon arrives, and once again Mumbai paralysed. Rather pathetic seeing India's financial and flagship city in this situation...not good for global image, Planes diverted from newly built airport to other cities, shops shut, newly built pumping stations not man enough to drain water, schools shut etc. What the feck BJP - Shiv Sena doing for over decade in charge of Bombay Muncipality?

^ not defending anyone, but, the situation is far better than 2005 when Mumbai was paralysed for 2 days..Its difficult when you get nearly 250% rains in a single day ps: BTW, more rains are forecast for next 2 days

modi Govt tries to trample on Free Speech . Attorney General says no .

NEW DELHI: Attorney general Mukul Rohatgi on Friday shot down the home ministry's decision to deny security clearance to Sun TV, saying mere filing of cases against the owners can't be a ground to deny the right to run a channel. The AG on Thursday met top officials from the MHA and information and broadcasting (I&B) ministry to discuss denial of security clearance to Sun TV, which would have put a question mark on the transmission of 33 channels with millions of viewers. In a strongly worded opinion, the top law officer told the government that mere filing of criminal charges in economic offences, in which trial courts were yet to frame charges against the accused, could not be a ground to infer that they had posed threat to national security because of the alleged offences. The AG's opinion represents a setback to MHA which disregarded the opinion of the I&B ministry and withdrew security clearance to Sun TV. Sources in the MHA expressed disappointment over the AG's stand, :haha: The AG said slapping of the criminal cases, in which charges were yet to be framed, did not fall within the reasonable restrictions under Article 19(2). The stand of the MHA is not tenable as per the Constitution and would not stand scrutiny of a court of law," Rohatgi said.
Would have been interesting to read the AG's letter . The Constitution has always been a cumbersome document for authoritarians .
The AG said denial of right to run a TV channel resulted in infringement of the right of the owners to disseminate information and the right of the viewers to gather information, both forming part of the fundamental right — right to freedom of speech and expression guaranteed under Article 19(1) of the Constitution.

Vladimir Putin trolling

" Does Modi do yoga?” That was the question posed by Russian President Vladimir Putin when he was told that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had started a Ministry of Yoga. He was incredulous that a ministry of yoga (it is called Ministry of Ayush, an abbreviation for departments dealing with Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy incorporating indigenous and alternative systems of healing) could be set up, and then smilingly asked why anyone would do that.
Not only did the Govt create a separate ministry for Homeopathy and Unani , but they are also envisaging allowing AYUSH Quacks to perform MTP (Medical Termination of Pregnancy) . A move vehemently opposed by the Indian Medical Association and the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) .
He wondered if the man who wants to spread yoga practise it himself.
Myth-making and pretense is all that is needed. http://indianexpress.com/article/india/india-others/international-yoga-day-does-modi-do-yoga-asks-russian-president-putin/#sthash.84gHx8XX.dpuf

How much this ambitious Guinness effort will cost the public exchequer, though, is another question. The AYUSH Ministry puts the expenditure at Rs 30 crore. The Ministry of External Affairs will not give a figure; minister Sushma Swaraj has said the expenses are being borne out of the publicity budget of embassies and will go towards “increasing India’s soft power”, so there is no need to talk about it in isolation. The real expenses, however, are of publicity, with the intensive campaign launched by Prasar Bharti and the information and broadcasting ministry being unofficially pegged at Rs 100-odd crore.
100 Crores of public money wasted , for the orchestrated sycophantic glorification and adulation of the Great Tweeter and to inflate his already Bloated Ego ! http://indianexpress.com/article/india/india-others/192-countries-37500-mats-in-yoga-capital/#sthash.ns4Egnnh.dpuf

FDI inflows soar 112% in April to $3.6 billion; Singapore is the top investing country

The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion ( DIPP) secretary Amitabh Kant told ET that he is confident that the country will receive record capital flows in the current fiscal owing to the slew of measures being undertaken by the government to make India an easier place to do business. In absolute terms, April saw the second highest FDI inflows in the last one-and-a -half years, with only January posting a higher figure of $4.4 billion, which was 109% more than that in January 2014.

May not win outright but certainly will be the single biggest party by a distance.

^hoping for petrol to fall below 60 Rs in the Indian market..doubt it will happen though
I think Iran pumps about 1 million barrels etc per day due to sanctions. That is expected to jump to 4 million with the new nuclear deal. It will have a knockout effect on the rupee as well considering our CAD will decline. At the moment KSA is interested in crushing shale producers.... lets hope for India's sake these shale people can drastically reduce their own costs staying profitable and keeping supply and demand at current levels. Otherwise KSA see's long term oil at $80 to the barrel.

NEW DELHI: The Narendra Modi government's list of invitees for the India-Africa Summit, to be held in Delhi in October, includes Omar al-Bashir, Sudan's President and alleged perpetrator of war crimes. Bashir was recently under the International Criminal Court (ICC) scanner while attending the African Union Summit in South Africa, but India will have no hesitation in inviting the leader since it is not a member of ICC, officials said. Bashir is being invited along with all other 53 leaders of the continent for the mega event on October 29 which the Modi government is hosting as biggest summit in Delhi since 1983 Commonwealth Summit. India will shortly send an invitation to Bashir to attend the third edition of the India-Africa Summit, officials said. An international warrant was issued against Bashir by ICC while he was attending the African Union Summit in Africa. He is wanted by the court for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity over the conflict in Darfur, but he managed to fly out of Pretoria last Monday despite a court order blocking his departure. The ICC had called on South Africa, which is a signatory to the court, to detain Bashir while he was in the country for the summit, but media reports from the country alleged that the Jacob Zuma government helped Bashir in flying out. While South Africa is a member of ICC, India has consistently opposed the Hague-based court, officials said. India abstained from voting when the statute for ICC was adopted in 1998, saying it objected to the broad definition adopted of crimes against humanity; the rights given to the UN Security Council to refer and delay investigations and bind non-states parties; and the use of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction not being explicitly criminalised. India has objected to the very creation of ICC that has been ratified so far by 123 countries. USA, Russia and China are also not members of ICC.
Allthough article seems a plagarised one from some western sources and headline/article should be the bolded part, But good. Very Good. Excellent move. Cmon Modi :hail:
