vvvslaxman Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Yeah team with yuvi, sanga was strongest:hysterical: They got lucky with marsh also Raina was pretty good player and Hayden was in god mode like gayle You left out beasts like badri lol then tony himself was a liability for first 3 seasons. Albie was a noob. Vijay was a noob.everyone developed over the years with the help of one or two foreign players.

Vijay was a noob.everyone developed over the years with the help of one or two foreign players. Vijay was star and a tidally good player and csk has very solid team and you cannot spin it off as weak no matter how you try and evey team had passengers in first ipl simply because franchise just went for big names and ignored local talent and only developed them in later seasons

Warne had super weak team as well. But they played as a team. Give the same team to any other captain. I am sure they would have reached rock bottom many times. 7 seasons without a single strike bowler if you exclude one good season from Ashwin. He has lot of weaknesses. But he has some strengths.

There is difference between doing well with good side and doing bad with good side Just because dhoni is not messing it up like others does not automatically make him like warne who actually created side of no bodies and won ! Also I agree about warne I even agree about bailey and his difference from some one like kp They both had weak bowling Lin up but bailey now has decent enough attack which can compete while Delhi got worse as tournament progressed . Still csk was one of the best side in ipl and always has been super strong .., As for dhoni we all saw how great he did with weaker side after retirement in I ternational cricket and still is persisting with likes of ishant so let's not get carried away by this league

They created superstars out of nobodies. Vijay used to be one of the most boring domestic player. Ashwin hardly did anything for TN. Raina was not even part 2007 world t20 team. Albie 5th choice bowler for SA opened for CSK. Gony was a total nobody so was tyagi, amaranth. Balaji after injury was quiet ineffective. Jakati, vid yurt sivaramakrishnan lol they had a comedy team.

Straight Drive Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I think CSK has been the most consistent team in IPL. They and MI are the only teams who have 3 trophies including IPL and CL. Dhoni has agreed that he has a very bad bowling attack and expects them to leak 200+ runs. So there is no argument left imo about the quality of their bowling and i am not surprised because i too thought they have the weakest bowling attack apart from Delhi Daredevils.

He is not a good tactician be it is India or CSK. His only plus he helps team gel better than say a gauti who despite has brain freeze moments with team selections and bowling choices has slight better awareness but poor man management. IIRC gauti started the leg slip tactics for Ashwin which worked brilliantly in that 5-0 odi whitewash series.
vvvslaxman Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Dude other teams were worse and comparisons with international teams specially back then are farce when t 20 just started Man to man they were considered strongest always with this yea being exception Tony is an excellent in man management regardless of big heads. He always managed to help his team gel well. This is why despite historically weak bowling their overall record is far superior to any side. Second thing is CSK built a team by retaining players. This is why some teams do well in one season only to be eliminated early in the next season but CSK does well season after season.

India is weak test team and some how man management can't do ****
CSK Fan Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 No trophies but we've still been making top 3 every season. If you are gonna sack someone over that performance then my word they must be some team. Take out this combo and we would probably struggle to the 6th-7th place. There is absolutely no proof of the last statement. More likely 1) A team with such money and power might do better with a more aggressive captain like Bailey 2) You might have better fast bowlers which will add to the strong batting

A team with better batting will always do better in T20 than a team with better batting. CSK vs sun risers is the prime example
Vilander Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 CSK need to invest in a good fast bowler..some one that is a strike bowler.
