Just yesterday nethanyu was calling for a separate kurdistan.

Whether or not its the House of Saud which funds these people or its renegade princes, we do not know. However, my question still stands? Who is in denial? My politically naive mind tells me only 1 thing. American foreign policy is in serious tatters. They support the same guys in Syria, and and consider them terrorists once they cross into Iraq. What are they even upto? On a side note, I recently had the fortune of meeting Sadia Dehlvi briefly. She's an author of multiple books on Sufism. Quite compelling reading. They can't even cross into Iran so forget about taking over Pakistan or India. Iran will bomb the **** out of them and they are not going to be (or show) considerate about civilian population. It's only US and it's western allies who mention civilian casualties and say they try to keep it to the minimum. When it's going to come to Iran, Pakistan or even India, it's not going to matter and this ISIS will be done in a week.

I think it is more mainstream. For instance, the term caliphate would resonate in a big way with Muslims across Europe and Middle East. Maybe not India, where they wouldn't care less. By and large. I think ISIS is really dangerous simply because it seems to have a plan. It is more organised. Yes US foreign policy is a mess. Although this could be blessing for relations with Iran which in larger picture is better for the world. I want Iran to do well. It is too rich a culture to be isolated.

Notice how they quickly declared a Caliphate and called out all terrorists to join them there. That way when all the terrorists finally arrive there, the US drones can take them all out. :sherlock:

You initially used the term 'we' so I thought you were speaking in the Indian context. But now you're talking about people in the Middle East and Europe. I am not in any position to comment how prevalent these views are in the Middle East. But logic dictates that the monarchies of the Gulf region wouldn't want a Caliphate. They would want to stay in control and practically dole out $$$/oil wells to citizens to keep things from simmering. Also the last Caliphate was an Ottoman creation, which the Arabs weren't too happy about. "Leadership of Islam" with a non Arab is something that was not acceptable to them. We could judge better if this call resonates and people join in support of the ISIS. All I see in the news is that its created a counter effect: Iran, the US and the regular residents of Baghdad who have been united in the face of this monster.
