Muloghonto
Do ICFer's think Sanga can replace Gilchrist in an all time XI test team? No way in hell. Gilly was an actual keeper. Sanga is not, never was. He was a bit better than Dravid as a keeper, thats it really. The thing peope dont understand is, in an alltime XI, keeping skills must logically be at a greater value than batting skills. You get one keeper, his keeping has to be solid. Its an alltime XI, you got a guy who averages 99+ with the bat and five other guys who surely average 50+. So whats the point of yet another 45-50+ batsman if their keeping is not up to the highest level ? Even Gillchrist barely qualifies in the ATG keeper category because Gilly was not an excellent keeper to spinners on minefield conditions. People like Alan Knott, Kirmani, Engineer, Mongia, Healy, Gillchrist, Deryck Murray- these are the main contenders to ATG wicketkeeping slot. They are all (with the exception of Gilly) exceptionally good and consistent keepers, even on the toughest minefields against the toughest type of bowling to keep to (which is the Kumble/Chandrasekhar type of bowling on dustbowls) and they are not total fools with the bat (Wasim Bari). Batsmen who could don the gloves and keep it normal with a decent bowling attack have no business keeping for 5 days against an ATG attack. Link to comment
thongale
Do ICFer's think Sanga can replace Gilchrist in an all time XI test team? No. Gilly's pace of scoring runs cannot be matched by Sanga. But he's a definite bet for positions 4 or 5 without the gloves. His average of 65+ without gloves creates very little competition. Link to comment
thongale
lungans can't deal with the fact that they can never make a cricketer like tendu' date=' hence this reaction :(([/quote']Phuck! We have two better test cricketers already better than Tendulkar. Murali and Sanga. Murali as a bowler, and Sanga as a wk-bat both are better than Tendulkar. Link to comment

The thing peope dont understand is, in an alltime XI, keeping skills must logically be at a LMAO. Sanga is a better keeper than many in the world. In ODIs he is easily better than Dhoni. IF he kept wicket would have average 45-50 with bat and a proper keeper. Would have give gilly a run for his money. But currently his status is as a batsman. Link to comment

Can you read? The rudest shock for the Sachinists is he is not even in the top 5 test cricketers of last 40 years. Imran, Hadlee, Marshall, Murali, Warne, Kallis, McGrath, Sanga and Gilchrist nails it as better test cricketers. What a shock that is! Even kapil Dev is a better cricketer than tendulkar for India given his all round abilities.:finger: Link to comment

SLICKR392
everybody uses sachin to get some attention. 'Trying hard' to compared Sanga with Sachin itself shows how special SRT is over an HTB like Sanga. Link to comment
gazza
sanga averages 50+ away from home, averages in the 30s as a keeper bat away from home. the best part of sanga's record is that even though his batting record contains 48 matches where he kept wicket (which lessens his average) he still averages 58 overall with the bat which is higher than the modern day greats, course ponting and kallis averaged that at one point so sanga might not be able to keep it up, we shall see. saneindian
Sanga the legendary keeper batsman is so good he asked Dilshan to keep wickets in a test, yeah right! And Sanga being better than Dhoni in ODIs... Next they will say Vaas is the best left arm seamer world has ever produced. Link to comment
donks1
if 11 sachins were to play 11 sangas, this hypothetical sanga team will smash the sachin team by 110 runs in tests every single time on account of the 5 runs that sanga outscores sachin by in a completed innings. that is some mind blowing stuff right there.
