vamos_rafa Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 ^ yep the part-time bowling of srt, sg, sehwag was a huge help in Test and odis! they dont make 'em anymore in india! and srt andsehwag were legendary in batting! Come to think of it, most of our famous test wins have had these part timers chiming in. Sachin in Eden and Adelaide. Even Sehwag, the way he got gilly at Perth was brilliant. We don't have such players these days.

I rate rahane a better opener than puj. Can rotate strike & go over the top if needed. In addition is a gun fielder. 2: someonewho can take on the bowlers early on like dhawan/ robin. 3:kohli 4 & 5: someone who can take quick singles & accelerate.eg nohit,jadhav, even hackdu can hit some big ones. 6: dhoni: can only accelerate in last over. 7: Jaddu. He's not the best striker going around. So can't make up for a slower batsman. Pujara in odis will be a disaster. He can't hit out if need be. He will just keep eating up dot balls & put pressure on batsman to follow. Besides he is much more essential to our test squad.

RedFever Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Pujara should try to go the Laxman way and forget about ODI's. In the long run that would be the best for him. 80+ strike rate with the inability to accelerate in the slog overs is not going to take him anywhere.
