I am pretty sure all he meant is that when there is a large influx of new people, it is natural that there will be trolls, people making low quality posts,etc compared to a stable set of forummers ( like in old site and even this ICF for quite a few years ) Pls do not attribute motives to holysmoke....he was one of the posters that was universally liked :two_thumbs_up:

Asking for quality discussion is not elitist.And he is correct that we have lost the quality of discussion atleast in the CT section. That's quite ironical given the fact that this is a site about Indian cricket. Why not restrict access to the site to 'murrica so that you get to happily jack off to high quality intellectual posts? From when did Maharashtra became a state in murrica?
moniker Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 This reminiscing about the good old times and the bonding is all sweet and feel-goody and wonderful, but saying that the influx of new posters is reducing the quality of the forum is what sounds condescending. More posters means more good posters and more not-so-good posters, similar to how you guys would've had a few good posters and a few not-so-good posters in those good old times of yours. Not sure how quantity affects quality, unless it's just the number of trolls that's increasing.

Cricketics Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Forum's gone from quality to quantity. Had to happen once it reached popularity in India. I'm sure all the oldies still log in once in a while. I agree with Holy. I am not speaking for Holy, and he can correct me here if I am wrong, but the common sentiment we all share who have been around for long on these forums is that the more popular the forum has gotten, the more crazy and absurd things like trolling, anti-jinxing, have increased and those things eventually puts off lot of posters, especially the ones who have been around for long. I am a nutcase though, a crazy cricket knuckle head who is so passionate about cricket, that I will end up finding my way back to forum to cheer for the team and participate with others and new posters when some big series or tournament is happening. However, that can't be said about all older posters. Everyone is different, and could be equally passionate like me, but they have their own style which one can't judge and shouldn't judge either.
maniac Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Lol so the culture of seniority and humaarre zamaane mein culture trickles down all the way to an online forum....awesome Harsh thakor for eg posts a lot of detailed cricketing analysis and no one bothers to respond to his ops....also being longer on an online forum doesn't translate to higher cricketing acumen. Also it is as simple as clicking on the last page and working your way backwards from 2006 and I don't see anything that suggests superior quality. Having said that people move on,so just bcoz a poster stopped posting after a certain time doesn't necessarily mean he was better than the posters now. Get the f out of your high horse and post a high quality thread and we shall discuss
