AmreekanDesi Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Can they ever stir up loyalty in young cricketers that they grow up wanting to represent an IPL franchise like kids want to grow up and play for Man United? Basically can IPL and its franchises survive independent of the money associated with it. Many young kids will still die to represent Man United or Real or Barca regardless of the money just because of the honor associated with it. Can an IPL franchise ever reach the same level? Also can it ever reach a point where the attraction for foreign stars would be something else besides money? Frankly speaking many intl cricketers would be the first to leave if the money on offer wasnt this good? Steyn has been on record saying that for him its like a paid holiday. I think an important part of this is to ensure that the franchises play cricket across all formats and across the board and not be just T20.

If i play in the ipl and continue to under perform my price goes down. The incentive is for me to play well and ensure that i command top dollar. If anything for internationals the need to do well in the IPL is more as there are only 4 players making the side. It could be the difference between being paid well or really well. and the Steyn comments were taken out of context. He said T20 in general is like a paid holiday for bowlers compared to tests. Which makes sense as you bowl 4 overs in t20. Wear and tear is low.

Messi playing for Barca many years and attached to it. Here in IPL we change players almost every year. Zaheer Khan played for 4 franchises in 7 IPL seasons :phehehe: Football is a domestic sport and these leagues run throughout the year. IPL only for 1.5 months.

You still hold on to that 6 years old statement during or after his 1st IPL. He didnt take IPL too seriously back specially as he was playing for bewdas. It was all party and fun there, but he accepted that he was wrong.

In Cricket leagues are there subserviant to futures tours program. In Football league games drive revenue and the game for the most part..friendlies are just for FIFA and other rankings.
