India hint at five-bowler strategy

Corrected.
Is Binny good enough to PLay as the 5th Bowler??? if Binny can fetch 3 to 4 wickets in 2 innings.. i mean 2 wickets in each inings or 2 in one innings and one wicket in other inings then he is Good enough to play as the 5th Bowler... I seriously doubt whether a Slow trundler- i gues he is a under 125k bowler and bowls between 115 to 125k with very little Swing.. i beleive it is very little Outswing..... though he slapped us all ICF experts against BANGLA and i beleive becos of that performance he may debut tommorow........he deserves a debut at least after routing bangladesh in an ODI and claiming 6 wickets...so its like he has won his place. i know that Binny is intelligent becos the line n length that he maintained against Bangla was very wicket taking and bowled alll full length and conditions helped him...though i beleive that Binny will not suceed in this test but i will not be too Surprised if he slaps us experts again. Binny scored 81 not out in one innings and in One innings i guess he did not Bat...so i guess he is confident about his BATTING... n i beleive he will do a fair JOb as far as batting is concerned. lot is expected of Bhuvi ,shammi and ishant..lets see how they perform.i beleive Shammi will be the best out of the three. i always beleived in Varun Aroon and I will be delighted if he gets a chance some How.. i beleive he can definitely suceed with his Pace. Jadeja will do a good controlling JOB and may also get a few wickets and is surely a better bet than ashwin in england.

Insane So Binny makes the TEST TEAM. I REPEAT TEST TEAM. Based on one bowling performance in odis on a seamers paradise against the worst team in international cricket. And then based on one batting performance against the second worst county side in englands second 11. Never has test caps benn so easy and cheap to earn. Test cricket is about genuine quality with bat and ball. You are searched, examined and if not class, then exposed. Bunny is mediocre FC player, he should be no were near the test squad. Thanks daddy

Binny can neither bowl nor bat, so at least someone who can do one thing right. Many teams have done this experimentation of bits and pieces alrounder. Australia did with Andrew McDonald who is far better than Binny but failed. A test alrounder is someone who can make team at least on one aspect either batting or bowling. He is 25% batsman, 25% bowler that will never work. He will do neither making batting or bowling strong. Why not play a specialist bowler then according to conditions.

Will be replacing Rohit so I dont think theres much to lose in batting.if he can take 1-2 wickets it'll be great else even if he helps in keeping others fresh its handy. choice is between him and Ashwin for me.if its a dry wicket, play Ashwin.

there is no point in mediocre people showing form...they will always be a misfit for internationals

hell, why do posters think an international cap is SO CHEAP as to pick players for 1-2 wickets and keeping others fresh? even small companies are not so dumb to pick people for such flimsy reasons. professional requirements of a job should be clearly laid out and adhered to even for a minor job, leave a international sportsman! the unpragmatic views in this thread is hitting peak levels.

I'm purely talking short term.Already said hes not a long term option. He'll be replacing Rohit who I don't think will bat well anyway in these conditions. I would not have picked him in the squad.but now that hes there and shown okay form in warmup, imo its better than going with Rohit or any other option.Ashwin can be tried if its a dry track

and Rohit is high standard?apart from one innings he has failed in both SA and NZ.

Somehow along the line this dumb way of playing only 4 bowlers has been ingrained in our captains heads from the past & gets imprinted on every new captain who comes along. Now that this is there an even *****ier logic that since this is the way we have played our cricket lets continue wwith it is been cycled out never mind the results. While the result of the world is playing 4.5 bowlers including the all rounder. Our selectors eyes have just been opened to the fact & wham they pick the first piece of trash out there little binny & pat on each others behinds on a job well done. They didn't even think whether the hack deserves to being in the test team in the first place. With moar tests overseas coming up expect more of these genius decisions from them.

Look Binny is just a poor cricketer, a mediocre FC player. Does not matter what we need. The fact is Bunny is not needed no matter what compsotion and strategies are thought about. As he is poor player and poor players don't do well at international level! Why short term we need a rubbish cricketer in the team is beyond me!! Some people have lost the plot. Claiming Bunny in good form. Wickets against bangla and runs against second eleven county side.:hysterical:

Pathetic post. If you want to replace rohit then fine. But don't replace him with a mediocre first class player who is only in squad cos daddie is selector. Binny is rubbish. Let me put it simply , this is how bad binny is. Ishant is a muuuuuch better test bowler then him and Raina is a muuuuuuch better test bat then him. And if either of them were in team all would go nuts (ishant is in team and we are all going nuts). Yet despite this people want Binny!!! Madness

Wickets against BD were defending 105 and when Yadav was getting smacked. Its best figures for Indian I think. In warmup too he did better than other contenders

So you think wickets in one odi v bangla means should be in test team:hysterical: And runs against pathetic second 11 side when all scored runs, so easy that players retired!! You think that's test form. You drunk?

an international batting team consists of two types of players 1. established cricketers over average of 40+. 2. developing cricketers who are perceived to have the talent to reach such standards. many of our current guys come under 2. (ofcourse many in this forum like to deride those under 2 but it does not mean they are right or informed ....that's for another day) . if rohit does not meet the standards of 40 average given sufficient time, he has to go. mediocre players like binny with a 36 FC average at the age of 29 have no business being even under 2.
