I am very disappointed to see Bumrah.and Shami use so few bouncers on this super bouncy track. 

 

Bumrah has not produced a single delivery that has looked like it should get a wicket and the main reason is because he has been very predictable so far. Just attacked the stumps at fast-medium pace. No extra effort or hostility.

 

The batsmen are camping on the front foot and playing Bumrah out easily (  till the 64th over. )

 

Medium pacer Shardul has more mental aggression than Bumrah and Shami in this test match. Just 1 wicket between the 2 strike bowlers on this pitch is very ineffective ... although the SA commentators are gloating non stop about their accuracy. 

 

If not for Shardul, we would have been totally out of the match.

Yes, the pitch played its part but Shardul is hitting the deck as hard as he can with his shorter balls, which is why he is getting the misbehaviour from the pitch.

 

And all because of his mental aggression.

You can't always expect bowlers to ball the way you want them to. 

 

Bumrah did nit give away anything while Shami gave an early breakthrough.

Bowling some bouncers ... so that the batsman cannot camp on the front foot ... is a basic tactic in test match bowling unless the ball is moving prodigiously or the pitch is so low and slow that the ball won't get up at all.

 

Every great fast bowler in history has done it in most spells. 

 

It is very difficult to get lots of wickets otherwise.

 

We should not move away from the basics.
