Tyagi needs to play more actual matches.

 

And not just T20s but the 2 longer formats too.

 

T20 is the worst format for a rookie genuine quick.

 

Genuine fast bowling, in its basic form, is a bowling style meant for test matches and ODIs and not for a format where the batter tries to tonk every ball for a 6 and edges will fly.  In this format the genuine quicks have to improvise and develop variations to counter the onslaught. And this requires loads of match practice to develop game awareness.  Just coaching won't help.

Chalo, Tyagi finishes his quota.
No more wickets, he really need to settle with his control now.

Picked up 13 wickets in 6 games....but Economy was also close to 10 overall.

If we want control and low ER from a young genuine quick then Mayank Yadav may be the guy.

 

He has an ER of 6.6 in T20s and 5.5 in List A and has looked accurate in the 2 or 3 matches I have seen him bowl. 

 

Of course sample size is not large and we have to see him play more.

That's fine, I think Tyagi will improve once he plays more.

 

It's been a long time in last 2 years that he has been fit, ofcourse rustiness is gone but the control will come in sometime, right now his every delivery is wayward and unpredictable.

 

I think T20's is not correct for him, he should play more List A and if possible FC so that he can improve even further. Despite of high ER he has been the pick of fast bowlers in this tournament. No other pacer is even near him.

Increasingly it feels that Kohli was the only one pushing for quicks and the others are getting credit as Kohli was the sole decision making authority. 

 

It is quite clear from Shastri's commentary that he likes trundlers despite showcasing an aggressive image. 

 

And now this from Arun despite the fact that Arshdeep averages 35 in List A and has 0 wickets so far in his first 3 ODIs with ER of 6.8. There is a big difference in decent T20 bowling and good ODI bowling.

It seems Umran & Sen are in their list of next gen quicks.

 

Avesh, Mavi, Mukesh, Arshdeep are..

 

All this chaos of "lack of bench strength" has happened because selectors choose the trundlers to replace the quicks, and it has backfired.

 

They should have selected the U23 Emerging quicks here as well, to maintain consistency and gradual growth.

Akash deep is decent, but don't think he is that level..I may be wrong though. But he is still an upgrade over Mukesh, Avesh, Mavi.

Umran deserved a spot in Asian Games squad though based on pecking order.

I’ve said this earlier. You don’t require brains to select guys like Bumrah, Siraj in the squad as first choice pacers. Even an idiot can do that. It’s how he develops / gives opportunities to guys like Kartick, Umran, Harshit that matters.
