Bumrah, Siraj and Prasidh are able to bowl consistently at 140 k+ in many many spells even in test matches, with Fastest Balls in the mid to high 140s.  Even old Shami can on many occasions 

 

While most of their counterparts in other countries are dropping pace in tests and sometimes even ODIs.

 

This fact needs to recognized and mentioned by the broadcasters and ex players.

Line to Elgar has been an issue throught the innings. 

Indian team need to find a neutral gear when they're not getting wickets. This feast or famine approach isn't good when the help dies down or batsmen manage to survive somehow. In 16 overs we have conceded 80 runs this session.

Philander raises another great point.

 

Says that Indians are trying to swing the ball mostly. And in SA that works sometimes and does not at other times 

 

While Rabada was trying to seam the ball mostly. And that can't be spotted early or from the hand. Plus seam movement happens more consistently than swing. 

 

We have discussed this point in this thread and others on multiple occasions. 

 

Our over-dependance on swing has hurt us often.

Prasidh doesn't have any zip, his bowling looks like 120 despite the readings. Reminds me of Vinay Kumar from 2011-12 Aus.

Tbh if the brief was to swing the ball and not look to land it on the seam it would explain a lot including why Thakur came on after lunch. Your bowling won't have much zip if it doesn't swing and you're only looking to kiss rhe surface. 

It's a job for the bowling coach.

Bumrah, before his 2nd back injury in mid 2022, used to be a hit the deck seam bowler. Now he has become a swing bowler from late 2023.

 

Shami is a seam bowler but not playing today.

 

And these 2 have been our main architects of away test victories in the last 6 years. 

 

We should look for more seam bowling instead of swing bowling, unless it is bowling with the new ball. 

 

Siraj could have pounded the pitch harder in his 2nd spell.

Pitch is two paced. Saw it with Rabada, Burger and Siraj too.

Guess what Mukesh has better bowling avg of  in FC after 40 games (21).

But naaa he is ugly and shortt so lets hype talll fast and trash

FC records are to be taken with a pinch of salt or with context

Give it 10 more ODIs and Praisdh will avg in mid 30s there as well

Indians have produced just ONE pacer averaging 25 or less in tests with 100+ test wickets  [ Bumrah ]  in our entire test match history of 90 years, because we do not understand the difference between pacers with pace and bounce and medium pacers. 

 

Your favorite Unadkat is a much better pick than Mukesh as he has atleast one element of bounce / height and a good FC record. 

 

What is the logic of doubting Prasidh in test matches based on a poor T20I series  !!
