kubrickian Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 We'll see how he does today but surface is very sluggish and non responsive. Its more or less like the Nagpur wicket for the test against England. Hard to score runs, hard to take wickets even for spinners. You can bat for a long time if you don't make mistakes and tire the bowlers out and slowly pile on the runs. Indian bowlers have their work cut out.

At least in SC, there will lot more help for spinners. Here even spinners will find it tough because the turn will be slow which will give batsmen time to adjust. Jaddu's darts could make a difference as he bowls it quicker and flatter and may get more out of this surface.

BK with better seam might.[/quote'] If Ishant bowls wicket to wicket, the low bounce sometimes on this pitch can get the batsmen into trouble and get them lbw or bowled because he generally gets some good bounce because of his height and batsmen will play for that bounce. Also, because England batsmen play on back foot mostly, it may get them into trouble on this pitch. Ishant got good reverse in SA in the 1st innings of 1st test at Joburg where he picked 4 wickets. So I won't count that out either.

Interesting shami was bowling decent speeds and was not tired from his 50!! No excuses today then. 90mph thunder bolts coming. I like the lad but I just don't think has the wheels and will be exposed with older ball. Saying that, not sure you can judge any bowler on this track!!
express bowling Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Bhuvi , as of now, is an one trick pony. Basically medium paced swing bowling in tests. His quicker spells are mostly in LOIs. Lacks bounce or consistent seam movement. Or reverse swing till now. Until he adds any of the abovementioned in his repertoire , I am not too hopeful of him in tests over a period of time. He may succeed in an odd innings or two but , as of now, does not look like a potential wicket taker in tests.

vijay50 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 7 test matches and only 9 wickets to show far , compared to Shami 7 tests 28 wickets and Ishant 55 tests 165 wickets. No wonder Bhuvi was dropped for SA and NZ tests for Zaheer Khan. I would be surprised if Bhuvi takes more than 3 wickets in this match. He should be dropped for Pandey in next match, inspite of his batting.
