Captain India Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 How effective is bhuvi in test matches? He bowls with new ball in Odis and dhoni finishes off his overs when the ball is new. Can he afford to do that in tests? He bowls around 130-132k. I'm sorry to say that bhuvi isn't good enough for test matches. If he proves me wrong, I will be very happy. .::):):)
undisputed chap Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 His problem is that even though he has swing batsman have enough time to adjust with his slow speed & especially on slowish tracks. So he won't exactly be threatening always.

Play Bhuvi as a bowling all-rounder (seamer who is much better than Sourav Ganguly, and can "bat a bit" - better batsman than Binny and Jadeja). Play him in place of Binny (or in place of Jadeja, but Jadeja > Binny)

Lannister Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 He's only good when the ball is swinging, and even then there is no guarantee that he takes wickets. Yesterday he produced some swing in his first over and that's just it, and later batsmen were playing him with ease. I think he needs to learn how to bounce with out losing speed. I had high hopes for him, it's just disappointing.

Yes he batted well here so kudos to him. Look at broad, johnson , even philander they are much superior bowlers but still contribute much more heck broad & Johnson have played some real good knocks also much more frequently. Even then no one calls them all rounders. I don't rate jadeja as an all rounder especially at test level yet. He is an okayish bowler who can slog a few.

Jadeja is better ionly while comparing with binny and as I said the only outstanding feature of his ability is his fielding where he is one of the best in the world.

They both are not used to batting so long. When body is warm, you do not feel the fatigue, but after some rest, you will and they might feel stiff today.

Hoping to see some cloud and rain around today. Still feel that in overcast conditions, this pitch will be difficult to bat on.
